July 23, 2013: Nepal Telecom- the pioneer telco in our country, is starting the GSM network swap from July 24 (Wednesday). With the swap, the existing ZTE network will be changed to Huawei by a 4.8 Million GSM project (10 Million GSM Project) that is designated for the whole of Kathmandu and Western Development Region (WDR). NT is commencing the swap work from Kirtipur, the southern part of Kathmandu and they believe everything in its place to have a well-managed swap.
From Kirtipur, they will be operating Huawei BTS towards Kathmandu and Lalitpur which takes around two to three weeks to complete. Implementing the Huawei Network, it is told that Nepal Telecom will be upgrading the data speed on the internet (3G) along with good quality Voice for which NT and Huawei Engineers are working hard.
What to do if you encounter any problem during the upgrade?
It is also known that there may be some problems during the swap time. For that, customers need to switch off/On at least once and wait patiently for some time, but NT requests them to contact their mobile customer center (1498) if the problem persists for long.
What to expect from the new Network?
Once the old network gets swapped by a new network, customers will be getting high capacity, good quality GSM network, and the best part is they will be having a good 3G network all over Kathmandu for high-speed Internet. As there will be some problems during the swap, it is told that NT and Huawei engineers will be working hard to solve such problems a.s.a.p. With the Swap, NT expects to provide better call quality and high-speed Internet (3G) in Kathmandu.
