Nepal Telecom (NT) has installed travel documents readers at the immigration counter of Tribhuvan International Airport. NT has installed five kiosks at TIA and one at the Immigration Office in Anamnagar.
Now on wards, foreign visitors to Nepal do not have to fill up immigration form to get visa as the kiosks read all information in the passport. NT has invested Rs 50 million to install the kiosks.
The kiosks are not yet formally launched which is installed there in coordination with Department of Immigration. It is also known that NT will be providing SIM card free of cost to interested foreigners.
According to Sambhu Ghimire, DOI, “Foreigners only need to type few details to get a unique code that can be used at different immigration points”.
The newly installed kiosks will also help maintain exact data of foreigners entering the country, plus the illegal entry and criminals can be tracked.
