June 12, 2016: Ncell, the private telco in Nepal has condemned the attacks on its towers. It was yesterday that the unidentified group later known to be Maoists party led by Netra Bikram Chand, had set Ncell towers on fire. Earlier the no of towers were known to be 6 to 10 in single day whereas Ncell tells it to be 24 Base stations from yesterday, depriving 5 lakhs people of communications in rural areas of the country.
Ncell has urged all the concerned to respect people’s right to communication and stop attacks on their towers. They even reminded them of the use of communication for emergency health support and their actions to put the people there in critical situation.
Ncell tells that they are in process to evaluate the scale of the damage by visiting those sites. It is also known that their actions are in full swing to restore the damaged sites at the earliest.
Ncell has also requested Government to make environment so that essential services like communciations are not disturbed for any reasons, as per the essential services law.
Ncell says they have already reported the incident to NTA and senior government officials and thanked for the support.

Meanwhile Government has also given their words to secure Ncell’s towers and punish the culprits. Home Minister Shakti Basnet has committed that government will take action against those attackers and provide proper security measures to Ncell towers.
