As per the provision of the latest budget 2075/76, the telecom service charges (TSC) has been increased from 11 percent to 13 percent. Due to this increment, the telecom operators (telcos) and ISPs start notifying their customers of the price increase. So, the new phone call and internet price becomes effective from Shrawan 1, 2075.

It is only Nepal Telecom (NTC) who informed no change in the some of the internet and calls offer. Find more of the NTC offers which do not subject to the price hike. Ncell issues a notice regarding the increment of those charges in their services. Similarly, Internet service provider Association of Nepal (ISPAN) also informs people of the additional load in the price. Some of the ISP like Worldlink, Subisu, Vianet, Classic Tech have informed subscribers for the price increase. Earlier, the telecom service charge (TSC) was not applicable to the internet service. Now that TSC is applicable to both the telephone and internet services, customers have to pay extra for the same internet offers or service.

Apart from the TSC, the regular 13 % VAT applies to all services on top of that. Most of the major ISPs have started sending messages (SMS) to the subscribers for the increment of the price as per the article 15 of budget 2075/76.

The new fiscal year starts on Shrawan 1, 2075. So all of the price hike due to the TSC is effective from Shrawan 1, 2075. Although Government officials including Minister have directed the service providers for not to increase the price, it seems like the price hike is imminent. The TSC increment will put a burden on people for the telephone and internet costs, which may affect the usage of this information technology for those who cannot afford. But it is not clear whether they have taken approval of the increment from the regulator NTA. More information about the price hike and the new price once it comes.

The same hike also applies to all of the Value-added services (VAS).
