Minister for MoCIT Mr. Gokul Baskota has inaugurated the official launch of Nepal Telecom’s FTTH fiber internet service in Sauraha of Chitwan. In the program organized in the Nepal Telecom’s office at Sauraha, Minister started the service by making a call (Fiber line) to the Mayor of Ratnanagar Municipality Mr. Narayan Ban.
Talking in the event, Minister Baskota has said that the current year will be a prosperous year for the company as various projects are in the pipeline for implementation. He further opined of the Nepal Telecom have a vital role in the achievement of Government’s Digital Nepal target. He also directed Nepal Telecom to provide its services not only in high-profit areas but also in low-profit margin areas.
Similarly, Managing Director of Nepal Telecom Mr. Dilliram Adhikari expressed his commitment to aid in Governments aim for Social, economic, Education, Technological sectors. He also put forth that Nepal Telecom will play a leading role to increase the accessibility of information technology in rural areas. During the latest press meet, Ntc MD had said that Nepal Telecom is more customer oriented than just profit.
Several officials of the company and people’s representative were present in the program.
Last month only, Nepal Telecom inaugurated the fiber internet service in Janakpur.
Capacity, and Availability
The capacity of the FTTH line installed in Sauraha is of 1024 lines which can be increased as per the demand of the service there. The fiber internet service is now available from Sauraha’s Hatti chowk to Thamel Bazar, Bharatpur Metro’s Ward No. 2, 3 (Narayangad bazar) and Ward No. 10.
As known, the FTTH service will become available in Bacchyauli and Breading center within 1 month time. More on the future availability, Office Incharge of Bharatpur NT office says they have the plan to provide fiber internet service at Ward No. 11 & 12 of Bharatpur Metropolitan, Gaidakot Municipality, and Tadhi bazar.
There are home individual package and corporate packages in Nepal Telecom’s FTTH service. For the home individual users, the speed is available in 8 Mbps, 18 Mbps, 35 Mbps, and 55 Mbps. Similarly, for corporate users, 10 Mbps and 20 Mbps speed is available. Read here for the NTC FTTH packs.
Nepal Telecom will also provide 100-meter fiber and 3 months of voice call for free with the subscription. The CPE device will also come free if the customer subscribes for 3 months or more.
Nepal Telecom has already provided FTTH in several cities of the country whereas the wide availability in each of them is still not insured. They say they are currently installing more infrastructure to expand their service to more areas.
