After the success of Realme 3 and 3 Pro, Realme had launched the Realme 5 series in India a few months earlier. The series consists of two new smartphones, Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro, which are the company’s first set of devices to tout quad cameras. In addition to four rear cameras, the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro also bring updated designs and hardware at prices similar to their predecessors, the Realme 3 and Realme 3 Pro. After the months of wait, Realme Nepal has finally launched Realme 5 and 5 Pro in Nepal. The price of Realme 5 in Nepal is Rs.20,990 for the base variant of 3/64GB whereas the price of Realme 5 Pro is Rs. 26,990 for the 4/128GB variant. Pro variant is launched in Nepal after the few months of the launch of Realme 5 and is available in two variants.
Realme 5 Pro Overview
Realme 5 Pro comes with a 6.3” FHD+ display which is an IPS LCD panel. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 409 PPI density. An OLED or AMOLED panel would have been better but a budget phone can’t pack every flagship feature. The plastic body with a polycarbonate finish provides the phone with a glassy look. The overall design looks beautiful with is fancy looking colors and the good thing about the device is, it’s splash resistant.
Performance and Camera
The device is driven by the performing Snapdragon 712(10nm) chipset which is coupled with 4, 6 and 8GB of RAM. Altogether there are three variants of the device – 64 GB storage and 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and 8GB RAM. With this chipset, Realme promises the 10% boost over earlier phones like Realme 3 Pro and Realme X which were powered by Snapdragon 710. The phone also offers the microSD card slot to expand the internal storage. On the software end, the phone runs on ColorOS 6 on top of Android 9.0 Pie. Performance-wise, the handset comes in par with Redmi Note 7 Pro, Galaxy A50s but we are yet to compare with Redmi Note 8 Pro.
The most hyped aspects of Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro are their camera. Both the phone comes equipped with a quad-camera set up which is a straight jump from the dual camera set up in their predecessors. The main camera uses the 48MP Quad Bayer sensor by Sony (IMX 586) and has an optimized sensor for HDR mode and Realme’s Nightscape.
Moreover, the secondary sensor in this device is the 8MP Ultra Wide-Angle camera that supports 119-degree FOV. The tertiary sensor is a Super Macro Lens of 2MP with a focal length of 4cm and the fourth is a depth sensor for portrait photos. Furthermore, there’s an improvement in the front camera too. It is a 16MP selfie shooter with a Sony IMX471 sensor.
Battery and Others
The battery on Realme 5 Pro is less than the one in Realme 5. It is powered by a 4035mAh battery. However, the thing to be noted is that the device comes with VOOC Flash charge 3.0. Meaning, it supports 20W fast charging. The availability of USB type c just great and the 20 Watt fast charger charges your phone from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes. It still has a 3.5mm headphone jack and has loudspeaker to the side and it features Dirac Power Sound tech. As for the color combination, it comes in Crystal Green and Crystal Blue.

Realme 5 Overview
Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro share almost similar specifications but is a slightly less decorative phone which sacrifices some of the features from Realme 5 Pro.
It has a 6.5” HD+ display with a tiny water-drop notch at the top. The display on Realme 5 is slightly larger than that of 5 Pro. This is also protected by Gorilla Glass 3+ on the front with polycarbonate finish on the back. Realme 5 looks almost identical to the Pro in terms of looks and feel.
Performance and Camera
Powering the device is slightly weaker Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 but this chipset is also well tried and tested and performs very well. In terms of OS, it runs on the same OS as of Pro variant. Similar to Realme 5 Pro, it comes three variants in terms of RAM and storage – 3/32GB, 4/64GB, and 4/128GB configuration. Here in Nepal, only two variants have been launched. You can also increase the internal memory up to 256 GB with the help microSD card.
The main attraction of this phone is surely its quad-camera setup on the back. The AI Quad Camera features a 12MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP setup. The secondary sensor has an Ultra Wide-Angle Lens provide a huge 119-degree field-of-view.
Although being a cheaper variant, we can’t see the sacrifice in terms of battery. Realme has used the bigger and better battery on this phone. It has a 5000 mAh battery but only supports charging of only 10 watts. This phone comes in par with popular mid-range phones like – Mi A3, Redmi Note 7, Oppo A5(2020), Galaxy A50 and others.

Realme 5 and 5 Pro is available for purchase in Nepal. The phone was expected to arrive in mid-November or during the 11.11 sale from Daraz but it launched a bit later.
