Nepal Telecom, the frontrunner of the telecom service is helping the government to tackle the current COVID-19 situation. NTC now collaborates with CCMC (COVID-19 Crisis Management center) to run a quick survey for the control of coronavirus infection. Similarly, there is an SMS shortcode from Ntc for e-pass requests and delivery.
From the very start, Ntc has been providing Coronvirus awareness voice messages through the caller ring back tone and even provided various offers.
COVID-19 quick survey
In the first phase, the company will gather information from its customers in Far-Western province. Gradually they will expand to other cities, areas as per the requirement. So, they will inform the people in all districts of a province to fill in the survey via SMS. Customers getting the SMS can participate in the survey by dialing *1419# and pressing either 1 or 2.

As they perform the survey in the Devanagari script, you can press 1 for Yes and 2 for No for the five questions. Filling up the questionnaire also takes less than 10 seconds to complete.
Nepal Telecom has managed to deliver the collected data directly to the CCMC. They believe the analysis of this data shall help the authorities get key information about the coronavirus situation and plan further actions to control it.
Although there are COVID-19 mobile apps that also conduct/collect information from people in a similar way, this sort of USSD based survey is quite fast and delivers the personified information efficiently.

SMS shortcode for e-pass
Similarly, in another support to the government, Nepal Telecom provides an SMS shortcode to convey messages regarding e-pass. Recently Government has initiated a portal to take requests from the people and give permission for transportation in this lockdown period. After filling in the form, you will get confirmation of the pass request and then if approved, the e-pass will be sent over to the customer’s mobile through number ‘1112′.
Free SMS and browsing

In addition, Ntc has made access to the Ministry of home affairs e-pass portal free of charge from Mobile data. That means you can browse the portal and fill in the form without incurring any data charge.
