Xiaomi, the fortune 500 company has announced its number one position in the smartphone phone brand in Nepal for the first quarter of 2020. This report is as per the IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly mobile phone tracker, Q1 2020.
IDC (International Data Corporation) keeps on publishing market information on IT, telecommunication, and Consumer technology Globally and in particular regions. IDC Q1 data also shows the decline in smartphone shipments by 11.7% YoY, due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Xiaomi have become the market leader in the smartphone market, after its official entry in October 2018.
Samsung, the global smartphone leader was also found to be the leader in the smartphone market of Nepal. Now, Xiaomi is known to beat Samsung for the Q1 of 2020 smartphone market. After Samsung, the third spot of the Smartphone brand is taken by Vivo. The market leader in the smartphone brand is known to be based on the number of shipments in the first quarter of 2020.
The data released by Xiaomi shows its smartphone market share of 30.9%, followed by Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, and Lava. With the data, we can find its market share of Xiaomi is 66% higher than that of Samsung.

According to Xiaomi, the top-selling smartphones in Nepal are Redmi Note 8 and Redmi 8. It is undoubted fact that both the phones were and still are pretty popular in the market.

Reasons for the Success
Xiaomi credits the successful festive sales and more to the massive growth of their phones in Nepal. There were plenty of such campaigns including the Dashain with Mi offer for the Dashain festival.
The growth comes in with the popularity of online sellers like Daraz.com and their increased partnership with shops nationwide. Xiaomi says they have set up more than 900 such partners through 350 Preferred partners around the country.
Xiaomi also maintains the foothold of Mi and Redmi brands with the distribution network and after-sales service. They have two major distributors and authorized service centers across the country.
