Nepal Telecommunications Authority has issued a notice to all the licensed telecom operators and ISPs asking them to ensure work from home and digital payments as safety measures during the lockdown incited by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal.
The telecom regulatory body has directed that all the telecom and ISP companies must ensure optimum service despite Coronovirus restrictions. It has thus requested telecom companies to adhere to health & safety measures as instructed by WHO and avoid infections at all costs.
Arrange Digital Payments and Work From Home
NTA suggests the companies must ensure social distance at their offices and minimize customers’ visits for services. This is possible by arranging for digital payment methods. This will spare people’s obligation to visit offices for payments or other services thus minimizing the crowds. Here are the digital top-up methods for Ntc numbers.
It also recommends postponing due meetings, seminars, and programs during the lockdown. If highly important, it suggests a virtual medium over those crowdy gatherings. Employees can stay home and work online by communicating via video calling platforms.
In the notice, NTA also requests the companies to make arrangements for masks and sanitizers at service. It also recommends the closing of doors and windows to ward off virus transmission.

In Case of Any Infection
In case, there is a suspicion about any employee, the companies must arrange for isolation, contract tracing of all the people the employee may have visited. Then they should also provide a safe quarantine further their and everyone’s well-being.
NTA has requested the telecom and ISP companies to take employees’ health as a top priority. It suggests that every company should divide their working personnel into several groups and ensure social distance. It is also requested that they work on shifts to avoid physical contact as far as possible.
NTA has asked all the telecom operators and ISPs to devise strategies with the worst-case scenario in mind to provide its most important services to the customers.
Nepal is embracing the second wave of Coronavirus and the lockdown is now looming for most of the districts for at least a week. While schools and colleges have already shut down, other public services have come to a grinding halt. So, NTA, the regulator has directed all the telecom operators and ISPs to minimize the risk of the virus infection/transmission and ensure seamless telecom service delivery.
