Ncell will contest NTA’s verdict on the infamous autorenewal case’s verdict. The private telco has lodged its plea at MoCIT asking for the reappraisal into the decision by NTA.

Earlier, The telecom authority, NTA had incriminated Ncell in the autorenewal case and asked it to refund the customers which amounts to over Rs.1 billion.

Ncell was ordered to make its response within 35 days and the telco has decided that it will challenge the decision by NTA.

Ncell, Nepal’s largest private telecom company came under investigation by NTA after users complained that Ncell had been using their main balance on services like Huawei App Gallery, Vas, and data pack without their consent.

NTA found the telco “guilty” and ordered it to refund customers Rs.1.11 billion. Ncell has paid Rs.50,000 in fines for the unauthorized actions but it will contest the verdict which could see it lose out both finances and the public image.

Check details of the Ncell Autorenewal and Auto-balance deduction issue.

Ncell Autorenewal On Gameloft, App Gallery, VAS, Others

Section of customers accused Ncell of autorenewing on VAS, data packs, and other services without customers’ knowledge. This act supposedly took place from Ashoj 15, 2075 to Jestha 18, 2078. Ncell seemed to have auto-renewed services such as Gameloft and App Gallery, etc. within the said period.

NTA has claimed Ncell churned out a huge sum of Rs.99 crores, and 92 lakhs without taxes.

Ncell has argued that the services in concern came from third parties and mobile balance was used for the charges. It argues that it has stopped autorenewals after 2077 Ashoj 6. But it seems this has not convinced NTA.

NTA, being the telecommunications Authority of Nepal has the right to exert its terms and conditions on the telcos. However, Ncell has decided to combat the verdict by NTA on the autorenewal case. We will keep updating our readers on it.
