OPPO has joined Connectivity Standards Alliance’s BOD (Board of Director). The tech giant will play a key role in the promotion of IoT connectivity protocol Matter, among other responsibilities.
Chinese tech giant OPPO has joined the Board of Directors of Connectivity Standards Alliance. The fast-evolving tech giant will take up a role of a key member of the board.
It has been announced that OPPO will lead the development of the Internet of Things connectivity protocol, Matter, and its promotions in China.
IoT is rapidly expanding in China as well as 5G. So the need for cross-device connectivity is also growing at an alarming pace. Matter, designed by CSA, will be a simple tool for connecting IoT devices. Oppo meanwhile, will commit to establishing a highly compatible ecosystem for the Matter Working Group. It will involve improving the Alliance’s connectivity protocol, setting up new standards, and designing new products prototypes for Matter.

OPPO will inherit Alliance’s technologies into its own IoT products and promote CSA in China. It will also play a crucial role to usher in a transforming future for IoT connectivity. OPPO’s co-operation with CSA will allow it to produce a reliable, and secure multi-convergent IoT experience for its users.

Neil Yang, Director of Standards Research Department at OPPO expressed his delight at the company’s new role with CSA. He said the company will “drive the development of Mater and create enhanced user experience for our IoT products.”
He added that OPPO will exploit its “global expertise in IoT across 50 countries and promote Matter in China. Along with CSA, we will shape the future of the IoT and deliver the better services to all users”, he promised.
Tobin Richardson, President, and CEO of CSA shared similar enthusiasm. He said, “With OPPO on our Board of Directors, the unprecedented collaboration between our two sides will be a driving force in our mission to build a more intuitive, imaginative, and useful world. “OPPO’s position on the Board will also be key to promoting Matter in China and throughout Asia, offering us the opportunity to provide improved IoT experiences to over a billion users.”
