Apple has rolled out iOS 15.5, its latest OS update for iPhones. This new update brings new features to Home, Podcasts, Wallet app, etc.
The latest update is not the next-gen OS so it doesn’t include a significant overhaul. However, besides, some conspicuous changes, you will get system improvements, optimizations, and minor tweaks here and there.
Below, we have compiled the changes you will get with the iOS 15.5:
Home App
With iOS 15.5, there are some changes to the Home app. Now, it will ask for critical alert permission from users.
These critical alerts will sound even when you put your iPhone on Do Not Disturb mode. You can use it for scenarios such as smoke detectors.
Also, HomePods will show WiFi signal bars in the Home app. To check on how strong your WiFi connection is, go to HomePod’s settings, and click the WiFi network. It will show the strength of your WiFi connection.
Podcasts
With iOS 15.5, you will notice some changes to the podcasts. If you are a lover of podcasts, you will love it. The Podcasts app now includes a setting that allows you to limit the number of episodes you can store on your phone. It will also delete older ones so that you don’t lose storage due to the piling of podcasts.
Apple has also announced that it will add new features with which producers of podcasts would be able to share their episodes on multiple platforms. So, it is just the beginning.
Locations in the photos
With iOS 15.5, Apple has barred particularly sensitive locations from showing in the Photos app. That means these locations won’t show up in memories. Some of these locations include the infamous holocaust and concentration camps. Also read: iPhone 13 Pro Max Wins The Best Smartphone Award at MWC 2022

Apple Music API returns
Apple has brought back Apple Music API. This allows third-party Apple Music players to adjust the playback speed of songs. Previously, such music API was there in iOS 15.4 too.
