Nepal Telecom (NTC) has revised its tariffs on a number of services. The new rates are effective from 1st of Shrawan, the beginning of the new Fiscal Year 079/80. At the same time, the operator has also announced summer offer packages with higher benefits in volume at the same price and addition of more packages.
The new tariff sets in following a slim Telecommunications Service Charge (TSC) cut by the federal government. Earlier, the government announced in the budget speech FY 079/80 that it will slash TSC by 3%. So complying with that, the government-backed operator has announced new rates on its range of services starting from today.

Which Ntc services will get new tariffs?
The new set of tariffs will apply to services provided in packages. In addition, new rates will follow services such as Pay As You Go (PAYG) voice and data, PSTN (landline phone), ADSL, FTTH, etc.
All these services will now see a 3% tariff cut from previous charges. As announced in the budget speech, the new rates have come into place from the start of the new FY 079/80.
In the meantime, the operator has also announced a summer offer effective from today. Ntc has included bumped-up benefits at similar costs in its recurring summer offer. Likewise, the offer also consists of some revisions to the existing offers. Ntc says it has added new offers to its latest summer offer packages.
In sum, the new summer offer brings higher benefits at the same costs as earlier. For example, you will receive up to 4 times more data volume at the same cost. This also includes 40GB of data for Ntc CUG pack of Rs 1000 and 80 GB of data at CUG Rs.1,500.
Ntc plans for cheaper data offers
Cheaper data and other services have been a long demand for Nepali telecom customers but the voices have often fallen on deaf ears. However, the government did slash 3% TSC on the previous 13% charge. While this is not overwhelmingly significant, the prices have come down a bit which is not common. This will benefit the regular voice and data subscribers of Ntc.
Earlier, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer Mrs. Sangita Pahadi said Ntc is working on reducing data costs by up to 20%. We can hope such initiatives substantiate to reality sooner. Cheaper communication services allow for greater service consumption and also reinforce digital inclusion which is vital for the Digital Nepal goals.
Ntc is Nepal’s largest telecom operator in terms of subscribers. As per the latest data, the company has over 1 crore users on its high-speed 4G broadband.
