Online nomination for the prestigious ICT Award 2022 has begun on July 1st of 2022. Interested candidates can apply in 11 categories to earn the ultimate recognition for their distinct efforts and passion in the ICT field. The nominations will open till August 16th (31st of Shrawan, 2079 BS) next month.
The country’s highest honor ICT Award began in 2016 and this year marks its 7th edition in the making. Each year’s edition has distinguished itself from the previous year with more sophistication and expansion efforts.
However, the highlights of the awards remain the Startup ICT Award, Product ICT Award, and the Rising Star Innovation ICT Award categories. In total, there are 11 categories for the nominees to battle out for the prestigious accolade.
As the title implies, the awards are presented to worthy individuals who have made significant contributions to the ICT section. Besides, Pioneer ICT Award, Entrepreneur ICT Award, Nepali Diaspora ICT Award, and Women Icon ICT Award are other categories.
The organizers have tried to make the ceremony more accommodating and inclusive every year. This has also allowed it to honor people in and out of the country with remarkable service and encourage more people to continue and prosper in the digital field.
Similarly, the awards also recognize organizations and institutions. The Digital Education ICT Award (Public Sector), Digital Education ICT Award (Private Sector), Digital Governance ICT Award, and Digital Services ICT Award are given to public and private organizations for providing excellent services through the use of technology.

Startups selected at the provincial level
Razan Lamsal, the Chairman of the organizing committee said the best startups this year have been selected via Startup & Idea Fest program. The organizers conducted this program successfully in all seven provinces earlier in March and May this year.
Meanwhile, the Grand Finale will recognize the top startups from each province in addition to the 11 genres. Additionally, the organizer will be adding another genre very soon. The category, organizers say, will aim at an international audience.
The Grand Finale of the ICT Award 2022 will be held in December this year.

Nominees will go through the five stages of the selection process
Achieving the highest accolade in the ICT field in Nepal is not an easy path. The selection process for the nominees will be a tough, transparent and competitive five stages.
The selection also comprises 13 advisory committees and 12 expert committees. Besides, the Presentation, speed dating, and public voting will be part of the selection procedure. At the same time, field visits will comprise the top five nominees.
Apart from that, there will over 25 jury meetings. A special session ‘Startup and Idea Fest” will take place in Kathmandu for over 40 startups chosen from every province. This also includes dozens of startups selected in the third phase from the awards.
How to apply for the ICT Award 2022?
You can register your nomination for the ICT Award 2022 online. For this, you must visit ictaward.org, the official website of the ICT Award. Then, choose your genre, fill up and submit the online form.
As customarily, the organizers have tried to improve the award further this year. The advisory and jury committee made suggestions to improve the award on Wednesday. Dr. Ram Kumar Phuyal said, “The ICT Award is established as a key occasion to recognize people and organizations for their outstanding contribution to the field of technology from a fresh perspective and startups and have gained respect.”
Meanwhile, Sushil Pokharel, one of the jury committee members, the ICT Award is a “significant platform for startups and innovators to advance, has a unique charm among the awards in Nepal.”
The winners of the prestigious award in all categories are entitled to a multitude of benefits and facilities with special honors. The Startups winners will receive concessional loans and investment opportunities too.

Categories of ICT Award 2022
This year, winners will receive the ICT Awards in a broad 11 categories. The categories include recognitions for individuals, products, and organizations.

1. STARTUP ICT AWARD
To register your nominee for the Startup ICT Award 2022, the company must be legally operating in Nepal. The company likewise, must contribute to the development of IT products, services, and innovation. Further, companies that were registered within the last four years are eligible to apply under this category.
2. PRODUCT ICT AWARD
Likewise, this category accepts nominations for products from any Nepali business, group, individual, or organization. But it is noteworthy that products only out to the public in 2078 BS will be eligible for the ultimate ICT prize.
3. RISING STAR INNOVATION ICT AWARD
The category accepts applications from college and university students, and young ICT enthusiasts under 30 years of age. If you are eager, then you can submit nominations for research, projects, and innovation to become the coveted rising star.
4. PIONEER ICT AWARD
Seniors who have made a distinct contribution for years to the field of ICT can register for this category. If you are eligible, then do nominate yourself for this category. In addition, you can also nominate others for this prestigious honor.
5. NEPALI DIASPORA ICT AWARD
As the term passes, the category honors a Nepali-born national living abroad for their contributions to Nepal’s ICT sector. Here too, one can submit oneself or others in this category.
6. ENTREPRENEUR ICT AWARD
The award promotes the growth of entrepreneurship in Nepal. Likewise, this category recognizes a deserving entrepreneur with remarkable ICT attributes. You can submit your own nomination and also nominate others.
7. WOMAN ICON ICT AWARD
This genre encourages women’s participation and growth in the ICT sphere. You can nominate yourself and other deserving candidates in the category.
8. DIGITAL EDUCATION ICT AWARD (Public Sector)
Meanwhile, the Digital Education ICT Award aims to encourage the education sector to encourage the adoption of technologies in education. The award honors the government and community educational institutions. An individual or an accredited educational institution can submit a nomination.
9. DIGITAL EDUCATION ICT AWARD (Private Sector)
Similarly, the Digital Education ICT Award comprises honors for both the public and private sectors. This award seeks to expand digital technologies in the education system in Nepal.
10. DIGITAL GOVERNANCE ICT AWARD
This category brings organizations, bodies, municipalities, and departments to the limelight for their efforts to digitize government services and facilities. The award honors organizations, or institutions for their efficient public service through technology.
11. DIGITAL SERVICES ICT AWARD
Similarly, private organizations, limited companies, and businesses offering public digital services can submit nominations in this category. Service-oriented private businesses can also vie for the award. This was added this year in addition to IT and software companies. Similarly, a nomination can be submitted in the name of the nominee or the name of an accredited institution.
