Vivo topped the smartphone market in China in Q2, 2022 with over 19.8% market share. The renowned phone brand maintained its pole position in the domestic market with a strong sales record of its X, V, and Y Series handsets, the Market Pulse Report of Counterpoint Research says.
The Chinese smartphone OEM has followed a global and local approach. This has helped the brand develop an understanding of local cultures and continue expanding its robust smartphone business globally.
Currently, Vivo has branched out its sales network to over 60 countries and regions. It is meanwhile, catering to over 400 million users worldwide with its diverse range of Vivo handsets from different price segments.

Vivo rules the smartphone market in Q2, 2022 China
Vivo maintained its leading position in the domestic market in Q2, 2022 with another three months of a strong sales record. Michael, the CEO of Vivo Nepal, said, “Vivo’s diverse portfolio helped the smartphone brand grab a good share in the market, maintaining its leadership. The brand has achieved this momentum due to its positive messaging and innovative regional strategy. The brand has also received positive market feedback for its budget-friendly segment, especially from younger customers.”
The Counterpoint report shows that Vivo led the Chinese smartphone market with a 19.8% percentage in Q2, 2022. The company however suffered a year-to-year sales decline of 26.5% for the same period. In Q2, 2021, the brand occupied a 21.1% smartphone market share.
At second, Honor climbed to the second with an 18.3% smartphone market share registering a remarkable 103.3% year-to-year growth. In Q2, 2021, the Huawei subsidiary just had a 7.7% market share. OPPO ranks seventh in the same list with a 17.9% market share which has also seen its share take a 30% sales slump from Q2, 2021.
Apple and MI followed at fourth, and fifth with 15.5% and 14.9% market share respectively. The US phone maker Apple is the only outsider or a foreign brand to have a presence in the top 5. You can see more details in the graph image below.
