Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that its Search service hit its highest-ever traffic in 25 years during the FIFA Football World Cup 2022 final match. The riveting finale between the eventual sinner Argentina and France was a six goals thriller that hooked over a billion people. “Search recorded its highest ever traffic in 25 years during the final of #FIFAWorldCup, it was like the entire world was searching about one thing!,” Alphabet and Google CEO Pichai tweeted.
Google also had been serving football fans with a number of custom services to keep users updated about the WC matches. The search giant fed users with live scores, highlights, and games to play during the tournament’s entirety. But the final day deservingly saw Google Search traffic upsurge as the match went down to the wire. Google CEO likewise, was not just updating the company’s envious feat, he also shared his joy at seeing Messi lift the trophy.
“One of the greatest games ever. Well played Argentina and France. Jogo Bonito. Nobody deserves it more than #messi, imho the greatest ever to play the game. What a swansong. #FIFAWorldCup,” he said in another tweet.

Messi inspires Argentina to its third Football World Cup win
In the match, Lionel Messi played a key role in helping Argentina win its third Football World Cup trophy. The mercurial player scored twice before scoring in the tie-breaker on a monumental night in Qatar. They defeated defending champion France 4-2 in the penalty shootout.
