Nepal Telecom (NTC) has expanded its 4G service in Lekam Rural Municipality-02 Darchula with towers in Kainoda and Uchchakot towers. The service became possible after the national transmission line was run up to the two towers. At the same time, the telco is also working on connecting the district headquarters in Khalanga with its NT Fiber internet service.
Lately, the state-backed telco has actively extended its communication services in the district. In September 2022, the operator started 4G in Chhangru. After phasing out Sky phone, GSM services have become the default replacement in all areas inside the district except Chhangru. But soon, Ntc will bring GSM to the area.
Ntc plans to completely discontinue CDMA and Sky phone services this fiscal year 2079/80 BS in its previously existing sites. In the meantime, it is encouraging users to migrate to GSM 4G services.
Ntc chief of Darchula Krishna Bahadur Gurung said that the district has seen monumental progress in communications as of late. Till 2075, Ntc had 14 towers inside the district which have increased to 30 at present. Out of the total, 25 cell towers are equipped with 4G service.

Ntc actively extending 4G service inside Darchula
Over a dozen of new base stations are close to their operation inside local levels in Darchula. Gorkhapatra reports that the telco is running surveys in other areas to add more cell towers.
Additionally, the company is working on bringing fiber internet service to the district headquarters in Khalanga. At the moment, fiber infrastructure is being set up to bring high-speed FTTH service which will replace the traditional ADSL network. In detail: How to Convert Ntc ADSL to FTTH (Fiber Internet)?
Ntc believes that it could solve all the internet shortcomings in Darchula this FY 2079/80 BS.
Uneven geography and the lack of electrification have obstructed efforts to expand communication services. But wherever electricity is available, Ntc has been at the forefront in launching its high-speed 4G mobile broadband service.
In recent years, it has prioritized providing modern and high-quality services over generating revenues. Just recently, the telco also brought a range of new packages for its 4G LTE-based Namaste WiFi service which is a perfect home internet solution that comes with a free 4G router. The service is more ideally suited for areas where fiber internet is not available.
