Nepal Telecom has begun 3G mobile service in Tunibot, Bhimgithe, and a number of areas in the Badigad Rural Municipality-07 in the Baglung district. The operator built a tower on Bhitreni Hill to start the third-generation cellular service to connect the nearby villages. Now, both 3G and 2G services are available for the locals bringing quality voice and data services for mobile devices.
With the service launch, Bhimgithe, Tunibot, Amile, Jaibane, Bhitreni, Chhepare, Okhreni, and Padambhir, of Badigad Rural Municipality of ward no. 7 and 250 households in the border areas in ward no. 8 have directly benefited from the cellular service.
Prior to this, a large number of areas didn’t have access to any mobile service. To be more specific, from Baglung headquarters to 82 kilometers to the Northwest part of the village had no mobile connectivity.
Badigad Ruram Municipality ward no. 7 chairman Krishna Gurung said that the lack of mobile service in the area made it difficult for the locals.

Nepal Telecom brings 3G connectivity to Badigad
Senior engineer and office In-charge of Ntc Baglung Keshav Sharma said that the telco started GSM 2G and 3G service in the area. Now, subscribers will get voice and data services on their mobile devices. Sharma added that the company plans to upgrade the service to 4G in the near future.
4G or the fourth-generation cellular network is the successor to the 3G network. It is the most popular mobile technology at present due to its high-speed broadband capacity.
Ntc has remained at the front in 4G expansion and upgradation throughout the country. In recent years, the company has prioritized service expansion over earning profits. Do read: Ntc 4G Coverage Reaches 98% in Local Levels
The locals had helped the telco for transporting the telco hardware to the tower. Previously, people had to reach nearby villages and Bhimgithe bazaar for cellular signals. Thanks to Ntc, the long plight of not having mobile communication service connectivity has finally ended.
The telco said that it has operated 2G and 3G services through a radio link from a tower in Darling Naya Gaun, Ward No. 9, Badigad Rural Municipality.
Nepal Telecom has over 62 lakh users on its 3G network while 4G subscription has surpassed 1.21 crore.
