Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphone, the superlative in its latest iPhone 15 series clinched the second rank in the DxOMark camera test. The device which was launched alongside its siblings iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15, performed strongly in the testing criteria despite missing out on the top rank.
The test checked the device’s camera performance on several fronts- photo, bokeh, preview, zoom, etc. To get the most transparent and fair results, the phone’s optics were put to test in outdoor, indoor, low-light, and Friends and family conditions (portrait and group photos, videos).
According to the DxOMark test, the flagship Apple device scored 154 points coming in the 2nd rank. Huawei P60 Pro was the one to beat in the charts with 156 points.

iPhone 15 Pro Max comes second in the DxOMark camera test
The benchmark testing platform heaped praise on the device’s camera performance. It highlighted the model’s exposure “which consistently delivered remarkable image and video results across a range of shooting conditions.” It also said that the top-of-the-line model was “the best iPhone to date that they tested “best iPhone we have tested to date”. The model’s expectant fans would love this feedback.
Additionally, the device optics managed excellent portrait photos and videos. The lineup captured rich detail and achieved skin tones “beautifully”.
According to the DxOMark, the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s Quad-Bayer image sensor produces brilliant image quality and enables seamless zooming to 2x. Likewise, the dedicated 5x telephoto lens serves for better photo quality. The testing platform claims that the model has outperformed its previous lineups as the “ultimate video recording smartphone.”
Of course, the second rank reflects its sheer brilliance in the optics department. However, DxOMark did identify a few cons. The testing platform remarked that the device performed slightly poorly in low-light conditions compared to others. The device also couldn’t do great in minimizing “Unwanted artifacts, including flare, ghosting, and aliasing.” Inconsistent details in all zoom ranges and limitations in dynamic range photos were other notable slight shortcomings.
