The government has announced applications for the post of Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). The Ministry of Communication, Information and Technology (MoCIT) released a notice on Sunday, January 28 seeking interested candidates for the vacant post. The notice mentions the application deadline for up to seven days from the day of its issue.
NTA has been without its leader since the departure of its former Chairman Purushottam Khanal who resigned on January 09 over controversies surrounding MDMS and TERAMOCS projects. MoCIT has accepted his resignation and is now seeking a new incumbent.
The Communication Ministry said that it would recommend the deserving candidate to the post.
Who can apply for the post of NTA Chairman?
NTA has set criteria for the applicants for the vacant post of NTA chairman such as:
- The candidate must be at least 30 years old and not exceeding 65 years of age.
- Must have attained at least a Bachelor from an authorized educational institute.
- He/she must have at least 10 years of experience in the related field.
- For the candidates serving in government services, public institutions, etc., the candidate must be gazetted with a Bachelor’s certificate and must have worked in first class (10th level), or above.
- Likewise, a candidate must not be ineligible by Nepal’s prevailing laws.
Here are the documents the candidates need to submit:
- A citizenship copy
- Personal Biodata
- Educational qualification copies
- Copy of Experience letter
- Commercial Action Plan in A4 Size (of 5,000 words), etc.
Eligible candidates need to submit their application at NTA with the necessary documents. They would also need to turn in a sealed 5000-word action plan to the authority. The applicants must submit their testimonials to the ministry’s Coordination Branch.
