Now, devotees at Pathibhara temple in Taplejung can offer bheti (a type of religious donation) digitally with a QR code. The electronic payment facility was made possible after the Pathibhara Area Development Committee (PADC) reached a collaboration agreement with Laxmi Sunrise Bank. The facility is expected to facilitate devotees offering their donations at the famous religious shrine in the Eastern Province of the country.
Prajin Hangbang, Executive Director of the Pathibhara Area Development Committee, said that a donation account has been opened at Lakshmi Sunrise Bank. Now, devotees and donors can deposit their donations to the temple through the QR code assigned to the account. Hangbang shared that Laxmi Sunrise Bank Teplejung branch manager, Anil Shrestha, officially handed over the QR code to Pathibhara Area Development Committee.
The digital bheti system at Pathibhara is in line with the government’s attempts at modern services at holy sites. Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has also emphasized bringing connectivity to tourist and religious places across the country. Pathibhara is remarkable for its religious significance and tourism. Digital bheti also harbors better prospects for connectivity in the area.

QR code established to facilitate bheti offering at Pathibhara temple
According to the PADC, the QR code from Laxmi Sunrise Bank is placed in the Pathibhara premises. So, visitors to the famous sacred heritage can offer their donation on their mobile phones with convenience. However, it’s been said that while there is the availability of the internet, it’s not consistent. Therefore, the temple’s committee is in a plan to expand internet service in coordination with Nepal Telecom (NTC).
So, the telecom company could soon bring a reliable 4G network to the area to facilitate electronic bheti offerings at the temple.
Pathibhara, sitting at an elevation of 3,794 meters is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Nepal for both Hindus and Buddhists. The launch of digital bheti should be a welcome facility for smartphone users. It rids the devotees of the use of cash and makes offering easier.
