The Chinese embassy collaborated with Huawei Nepal and the Ministry of Communications, and Information Technology (MoCIT) to start a smart classroom in Gandaki province. The initiation received necessary ICT tools and quipment from Huawei Nepal. This program aims to enhance techno-friendly education and develop ICT talents in the country.
The smart classroom was inaugurated at Shree Buddhodaya Secondary School in Kwhlosothar Rural Municipality, Lamjung on January 19, 2025. Now, the students can learn differently and more efficiently as a global citizen of the current world.
Huawei has been a mainstay in Nepal’s telco industry providing gears for the operators. However, its role goes beyond a commercial entity. It has also supported the country with technical, social, and educational efforts. The smart classroom project seeks to reinforce the practical side of digital education in Nepal.
It’s also a part of a broader friendship project dedicated at the aspiring youth in Nepal.

Huawei contributes for the smart classroom in Gandaki province, Nepal
For the smart classroom in Gandaki Province, Huawei has provided advanced learning solutions. These include Huawei Idea Hub, laptops, desktops, WiFi, and other necessary infrastructures. These tools and equipment will greatly help students get familiar with technology and result in efficient learning. Huawei expects that the initiative will contribute to narrowing the digital divide in education, especially in remote and rural areas.
The inauguration ceremony had the gracious presence of many dignitaries. The list included the Honorable Communication Minister, Mr. Prithvi Subba Gurung, who highlighted the importance of this initiative in addressing educational challenges in rural Nepal. The minister stated, “This initiative marks a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and enhancing educational opportunities in rural Nepal. I commend the collaboration between the Chinese Embassy, Huawei Nepal, and MoCIT for bringing advanced technology to Shree Buddha Daya Secondary School, which will empower students with the skills necessary to succeed in the digital age. We are committed to ensuring that technology plays a key role in shaping Nepal’s future, and this smart classroom is an important milestone in that journey.”
Likewise, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nepal, H.E. Mr. Chen Song sent a special video message in which he stated, “ We are proud to support the Smart Classroom initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Huawei Technologies Nepal. This initiative will equip students with essential digital skills and foster creativity. As we celebrate 70 years of Nepal-China friendship, our ongoing partnership underscores our commitment to empowering the next generation through education and innovation.”
