State-backed telco Nepal Telecom (NTC) has established internet and telephone services in Shailung Rural Municipality, Dolakha district. The communication services have made it the first telecom-friendly local government in the district.
Prior to this, the area had no reliable infrastructure for communication. NT installed 2 telephone towers in Bhaise and Nadantlarka and are already in operation. Now, over 100 landline phones and internet services are in operation in Baghkhor Bajar.
As a national telecom company, Ntc continues to expand its services in rural and remote areas. Even with fewer economic prospects, the company has remained firm and emphatic in extending its communication coverage. Recently in the current fiscal year FY 2081/82, the company announced its fiber internet availability in 77 districts.
Ntc launches internet service in Shailung, Dolakha
In addition, Ntc has also brought internet service to all eight wards in Shailung Rural Municipality and 9 secondary schools. The connectivity helps the government offices to run their work online and connect with other agencies easily. At the same time, the internet at schools promotes techno-friendly education and familiarizes students with digital technologies.
When it comes to expanding the internet and other means of communication, NT remains proactive from the front. Thanks to its commitment, broadband penetration has increased and more areas are now under the coverage of internet and connectivity facilities.
