Ncell and CG Communication have joined ISPAN (Internet Service Providers Association of Nepal). It’s the first time that a telecom company has joined ISPAN which has so far remained only a group for ISPs. ISPAN is the umbrella association of the ISPs in Nepal, with an objective to develop and promote Internet service for everyone.
ISPAN will announce Ncell’s entry into the group at its upcoming general meeting. ISPAN is a national body of ISPs which serves the interest and concerns of the industry. Ncell, which operates telecom services has joined the group. But this may not also be entirely unusual. The company has itself admitted that it’s keen on starting an ISP business. Recently, there were even rumors of Ncell buying Classic Tech. So, joining ISPAN could have some meaning to it.
But there could be other reasons, too. So far, Ncell has been somewhat alone in conveying its issues. But being a part of ISPAN could help it communicate its concerns more effectively.

ISPAN has Ncell and CG Communication for its new members
A source close to the matter said, “Both ISPAN and Ncell were operating solo. So, there were difficulties in finding uniform policies.” But it’s not just Ncell. ISPAN is also taking CG Communication as its new member.
It should be noted that ISPAN is not registering Ncell in its group as a telecom operator. Source says that the telco will be part of the association as a network service provider (NSP). It also sounds more logical.
Inclusion of a leading operator like Ncell and growing ISP such as CG Communication (CG Net) would make ISPAN stronger and larger.
