Apple is hosting its annual event Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 5 and has declared it the “most exciting yet”. Among a number of new products, a new operating system iOS 17, macOS 14, AR/VR headset, etc. The hotly anticipated event is taking place at Apple Park from June 5 to 9, 2023, with a keynote event on Monday, June 5.
WWDC is Apple’s annual event where the tech giant unveils its OS, and discusses strategies, and opportunities for developers. It’s an online event however, select students and developers will have a chance to visit Apple Park on June 5 where they can watch the keynote and State of the Union speeches and meet Apple employees. It’s also an opportunity for the visitor to meet attendees and others in person.
The event traditionally starts off with a keynote speech where it unveils new software and discusses new products.

Here’s what we are expecting at the WWDC 2023.
AR/VR Headset
Apple is expected to unveil its long-anticipated AR/VR headset at WWDC 2023. Its launch on June 5 means developers will have time enough to design apps when the device goes commercial later in 2023.
The new unnamed yet headset could come with a number of features we have listed below:
- AR/VR with the ability to switch modes
- An external battery pack that is worn at the waist.
- Lightweight and comfortable design
- 4K micro-OLED displays.
- Iris scanning for authentication.
- Apple silicon chips as used in the Mac.
- xrOS operating system
- Dedicated App Store, FaceTime experience,
- Ability to use iPhone and iPad apps.
- cameras that can detect facial expressions, body movements, etc.

15-inch MacBook Air
Among the hardware, Apple could also announce a 15-inch MacBook Air for buyers who would want a non-Pro machine. It could come with M2 chips as M3 is still too early to expect for powering the devices. Leakster Ming-Chi Kuo says the new MacBook Air series will use M2 and M2 Pro chips but the idea is debated. Some outlets claim the gadgets will feature new M3 chips.

iOS 17 and other software versions
Apple has announced that it will launch a next-generation version of its Operating System across its range of products. This includes iOS 17, iPadOS 17, tvOS 17, macOS Ventura 14, watchOS 10, and xrOS if AR/VR headset is introduced. Recently launched iOS16.4 is the last update rolled out for the iOS 16 OS for iPhones. Of all the iOS 17 will again be the most-talked software. As per the rumors, the iOS 17 is going to bring in the “most requested features” by users. But there is no indication of what they could and there doesn’t seem to be a major feature integration either. However, iPhone users could expect some quality improvements with the next update.
The iOS 17 will have support for the AR/VR headset, and sideloading apps in European markets among other features.
