Ncell

Ncell is a leading Private Telecom operator of Nepal. It used to a company of Malaysian Telecom giant, Axiata which has sold its 80% stake in the company to Spectrlite UK, owned by Satish lal Acharya. It was previously called Mero Mobile (GSM service started in 2005). When European Telecom company TeliaSonera bought the company, they renamed it as Ncell. The Telecom company has 2G, 3G, 4G services in GSM technology.

They have around 13 million subscribers, by the number of their SIM distribution. So, they are the second largest telecom company by the no of subscribers. The telco also has a wide 4G coverage in the country, in three bands; 1800 Mhz, 900 MHz and 2100 MHz. The company also launched VoLTE service for HD quality voice service. In addition to adding new, innovative technologies, the telco keeps on providing great offers in the name of voice packs, data packs, combo packs to its customers.

People accused them of trying to evade the Capital Gain taxes, during the equity transfer from Telia Sonera to Axiata and also from Axiata to Spectrlite. The earlier issue was resolved, after Ncell submits Rs 14.33 billion to government for CGT. While the new controversy for the CGT evading and the sellout remains disputed so far.

They also use the latest technologies and features to upgrade their network and provide world-class, high-speed data service. Recently Ncell introduced three band carrier aggregation in 4G, which is for the first time in Nepal. For home broadband in remote areas, Ncell also has this 4G based Wireless broadband solution called Wirefree+ internet. This service is available in all areas with Ncell 4G coverage.
