State-backed operator Nepal Telecom (NTC) has told cable, TV, and internet service providers (ISPs) to pay rent to use poles. In a notice, the company mentioned that any service provider must reach an agreement and pay rental fees to use its utility poles.
The company has also urged service providers who use its poles to contact to contact poles. If you were unaware, various ISPs, cable TV, and other service providers use Nepal Telecom’s poles to operate their services. They run wires to reach their customers’ residences and offices. So, Nepal Telecom which is a telecom company has called on ISPs, TV, and other companies to pay rent to use those utility poles.
It’s not a first time that issue relating to pole usage has come to surface. NTA and ISPs often come into conflict about the usage of poles. However, this time, it’s NTC requesting other companies to reach an agreement with it or face cable removal.

Nepal Telecom tells ISPs to use pole rent for services or they will be removed
Nepal Telecom said that if companies do not come into contact, it could remove their cables off the poles. It said that if such an incident arrives, the companies themselves will be responsible.
The notice states, “All cable and TV operators and internet service providers using poles need to enter into a mandatory agreement with the company, and the company may remove the cables of service providers using poles without agreement or payment of rent at any time, and the service provider is responsible for any situation arising from it.” Check out: Nepal Telecom NT TV price in La Carte system
It has told concerned providers to contact its nearest office or provincial directorate by Chaitra 10, 2081 to count the poles.
