Nepal Telecom the government-owned Telecom operator is known to lead over the private giant Ncell in the data segment. Ntc is currently doing rapid expansion of its GSM services in the country along with 3G. With the expansion of 3G in 20 new districts, the data users will be increasing more in the areas where there was no good availability of GSM mobile data.
Kathmandu post in its daily edition today has reported the news of the expansion of its 3G service to 20 districts in Eastern, Midwestern and Far Western regions, making the total district with 3G coverage to 33. The current expansion of NT is under the ambitious 10 million GSM project.
Kathmandu post further writes “With NT expanding 3G services, competition between NT and Ncell in the data segment will be further intensified. As of mid-March, NT has a 52 percent market share in the data business whereas Ncell holds 46 percent”. The daily has reported the data according to the latest NTA MIS report.

Nepal Telecom will extend their 3G Coverage to more parts of the country. Update: Now NT 3G coverage is available in 77 districts of the country.
