Nepal Telecom has got a new project to install high speed internet technologies in the Earthquake affected areas. The internet service will be provided at free of cost to the people residing there for two years. The regulatory body, NTA and Ntc has inked a deal to provide the internet service in those highly affected areas by utilizing the Rural Telecommunication development fund (RTDF).
Ntc and NTA signs the contract on Thursday. NTA chairman Digambar Jha and Ntc MD Mrs. Kamini Raj Bhandari inks their signature in the deal. NTA chief expressed that the deal has come for the proper utilization of the RTDF fund. It is also for providing high speed internet to the earthquake affected areas. NT MD appreciates NTA to provide such project to them. She assures of the proper prioritization to complete within time frame. This is the second project by Nepal Telecom, by utilizing RTDF from NTA.

Ntc told before that they are not going to invest on CDMA and WiMAX technology. But for this project, Ntc will choose whatever technology like GSM, CDMA and WiMAX that is feasible there.
With the project, Ntc will install equipment to provide high speed internet to the government or community schools, health posts, Ayurvedic center, Ward offices, Village office, Metropolitan offices in earthquake affected areas of Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts. Ntc will also do the maintenance of those equipment.
The totality of such areas/ offices is 747. People there can use the high speed internet for free of cost for two years.
Nta will release 21 crore 16 lakh rupees to Nepal Telecom for the implementation.
