Nepal Telecom (Ntc) has provided mobile signal in Tsho Rolpa lake area, which is possible due to the recently built tower at Beding station, Dolakha. Tsho Rolpa is one of the highest glacier lake in Nepal and popular tourist destination. Apart from the lake, you can have a magnificent view of Gaurishankhar, Langtang and Everest Himalayan range.
Previously there was no any signal in such touristic area from any operator and technology. From a long time, experts say that the lake is in danger to burst, threatening several lives and property. The lake is around 65 km road from Charikot and trekking of 2 days.
Benefits of the Mobile signal
The Beding station is situated in the remotest area of Gari Shankar Village body (GauPalika). There are hundreds of people living around the tower, mostly Sherpas. As the place is remote mountainous area, the tower benefits the people living in that area for connectivity. This enables people to connect to the world any time with it. This is also beneficial for the promotion of tourism in the lake and the vicinity. The advance use of the the mobile signal could be for the monitoring of the water level and dam of Tsho Rolpa Lake.
Ntc makes a press release of the operation of the Beding tower, and informs media of the people excitement with the signal at their place.
Ntc tells that this GSM tower operation is in line with the Government’s policy to extend mobile coverage in the remote areas. From some time, Ntc have been extending mobile coverage in such areas. Recent expansion of mobile signal includes Lapa and Tipling of Dhading, Rara Lake of Mugu.
