Ncell has launched 4G service in Kathmandu, Nagarkot, Dhulikhel from June 1 (Jestha 18, Thursday). Ncell customers having compatible SIM and 4G handsets can now use 4G service in Kathmandu and those places. Soon, they are launching 4G in Pokhara and other major cities of the country. This post, we are testing 4G speed in different parts of Kathmandu City.
We have been to major parts of the Kathmandu city and tested the 4G speed through Ookla Speed test android app. The major places includes Thamel, Gongabu, New road, Jamal, Baneshwor and Pulchowk.
We have found maximum speed in Ncell 4G to be around 15 Mbps 31.5 Mbps downlink whereas the uplink speed was 10.5 Mbps. The least data speed that we got was 4 Mbps downlink and 2 Mbps uplink. The average 4G speed in downlink comes around 9 Mbps whereas average uplink speed is around 5 Mbps. In some places, we have found the uplink speed to be greater than downlink.
Here are the snapshots of Ncell 4G speed test in Kathmandu.

But in some places inside buildings, we encountered the network communication issue with the 4G. It may be also due to weak signal of 4G inside the buildings. Ncell is known to gradually increase the no of 4G base stations in Kathmandu and other places. So, the coverage of Ncell 4G will increase along with the speed. Update: We performed more tests on June 2, where we found the similar average speed of 4G, except for the maximum download speed at Jamal. At some places, our phone even went frequently to 3G network.
Summary of Ncell 4G speed test:

Update on June 2: We have already got the free 1 GB data offer from Ncell. We will use the free 1 GB data offer to test more in Kathmandu. If you want more tests in some areas, do mention.
We can also expect similar 4G speed in other places Like Nagarkot, Dhulikhel and Banepa.
If you have started using Ncell 4G, do share the snapshot of speed test from your phone.
