Xiaomi introduces Redmi K series smartphone in Nepal with the announcement of the K20 and K20 Pro launch. Redmi K20 duo has a motorized pop-up camera and feels premium on each end. Xiaomi has made the price of Redmi K20 and K20 pro in Nepal quite aggressive which far exceeds the expectations. The flagship killer device lands here with an amazing price tag, find details of specs and availability of Redmi K20 below.
Redmi, the sub-brand after being independent of Xiaomi brought the K20 duo with flagship-level specs at an affordable price. Redmi K20 pro, the high end among the Redmi K20 duo is powered by Snapdragon 855 Processor. The same processor powers most of the flagship-level phones like Mi 9, OnePlus 7 Pro, Samsung S10, latest Note 10.
Sourabh Kothari, Country General Manager – Nepal, Xiaomi, said, “We are thrilled to launch the Redmi K20 series in Nepal. As the first of our Redmi flagship series in Nepal, Redmi K20 and K20 Pro truly redefine the ultimate flagship experience. Featuring the new pop-up camera along with an AMOLED screen, as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor, the phones offer our Mi Fans the best of cutting-edge technology with high quality at truly honest pricing. We are also delighted to share that our Mi Fans can experience the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 in Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20 respectively, thus bringing power-packed performance to all users in Nepal.”
Overview
Regarding the Screen of the devices, K20 pro and K20 have 6.39 inch AMOLED FHD+ Full-view screen without any notch. The motorized pop-up camera enables the full view display with minimum bezels and without a notch. The Unique selling point of the Redmi K20 device is the full view display, as provided by the pop-up camera. They have a 91.9% screen-to-body ratio which Xiaomi says one of the highest in the industry.
The screen has nice brightness and sharp color reproduction. Gorilla Glass 5 protects the device in both the front and back. The back surface of the phone is equipped with Aura prism finish with peculiar Gradient. The gradient for particular color flames towards the black center which is only accurately visible indoors.
The metal frame along with the glass body makes the phone feel premium and also comfy to hold. The phone also supports the in-display fingerprint sensor which is better than the face unlocks or others. This security feature will also be prevalent for some years for the premium phones until a new one develops.
Camera
Regarding the camera, both the phones have tripe rear camera setup with 48 MP main sensor. Other sensors in the phone are 13 MP ultra-wide (124-degree view) lens and 8 MP telephoto (2X) lens. The rear camera also has 960 fps slow-motion video capability. Although the specs for the rear camera are the same for both phones, K20 Pro has an IMX586 sensor (same as that of OnePlus 7 Pro and Mi A3) Whereas K20 has an IMX582 sensor. The rear camera also supports PDAF/ Laser AF, Dual LED flash and HDR.
Redmi K20 pro has a pop-up camera for selfies of 20 MP resolution. After selecting the selfie from camera UI, the front camera pops up from the top of the phone with LED lights on it. With the test, the pulsating notification LED on top of the pop-up camera mechanism works at least 300,000 times. The LED along with a stylish halo ring around the camera module has a good aesthetic value. The resolution of the front camera is 20 MP, f/2.2 with HDR, AI, portrait mode, and beauty filter.
Regarding the video, Redmi K20 phones support slo-mo video in 960 fps and 4K video recording capability. The dedicated night mode uses a special photographic algorithm for low light situations.
Battery
The phone not only packs all the heavy specs but also sports 4000 mAH battery and 27W charging. The heavy battery makes the phone last longer even with heavy usage. As per some review, the phone has a SOT of 6.5 to 7 hrs which is quite great. The huge battery is also the reason for the heavyweight of the phone. Although the phone supports 27W SonicCharge, it is not available in the box which has an 18W charge inside. So you have to buy a 27W charger from outside.
Audio
A high-res DAC gives Redmi K20 Pro the ability to playback lossless audio (up to 24-bit, 192KHz), while
dual GPS antennas ensure pinpoint GPS accuracy.
Both the phones do not have Audio-jack while the data connectivity to the computer is done through the USB Type-C connector.
OS
Both the phones run on Andriod Pie with MIUI 10 over the top. The devices have Game turbo 2.0 that accelerates the performance of the phone for gaming. MIUI 10 also includes Always on Display and system-wise dark mode that blends well with the AMOLED display.
