Nokia is one of the eldest brothers of the smartphone manufacturing family. While other companies are known its Premium Flagship phones or Mid-range phones, Nokia is known for feature phones such as Nokia 125 and 150 phones launched recently in Nepal. They have just dropped out their all-new Nokia 5.3 smartphone on September 7, 2020, in the Nepali market which is the successor of Nokia 2.3. It belongs in entry-level mid-range family and Nokia 5.3 price in Nepal is just Rs. 23,499 for 4GB/64GB variant. So, Let’s dive in and learn more about the Smartphone.
Nokia 5.3 Overview
Display and Design
Nokia 5.3 flaunts a 6.55-inch IPS LCD HD+ display. The display houses a Water-drop notch and features 2.5D glass protection. Well, that’s good for avoiding scratches and dents or other things. HD+ resolution must give the user a better experience while gaming and streaming. Looking at the device images, the display seems to be bright, vibrant, well balanced, and contrasty as well as large at the same time.
Coming to the design, the device’s rear panel, body, and frame are all plastic built. However, the back is scratch-resistant because its composite back and the color finishes are Nordic-inspired but impressive. We get a saucer-shaped camera module at the top middle and just below it is the Finger-print mount. The company logo is placed in the middle which is written horizontally. Because of the design and build of the phone, it must be comfortable to hold it in hand.
Volume rockers and the Dedicated Power button are placed at the right edge. Whereas you can find the Google Assistant button at the left edge. Similarly, a 3.5m headphone jack is placed at the top edge and a USB Type-C Reversible connector, Speaker grill, and Mic at the bottom edge.

Saucer-Shaped Quad Camera
The Saucer-shaped Quad Camera Module kind of reminds me of the Redmi K30 Ultra because it’s pretty similar. Four camera sensors are put inside of the module on each side making a square shape. In the middle is a single LED flashlight which has another circular layout.
This Quad-Camera setup uses a 13MP Main Sensor + 2MP Depth Sensor + 5MP Ultra-Wide Sensor + 2MP Macro Sensor. It is further boosted by Powerful AI imaging that gives you creative tools to get more enhanced shots. Bokeh Effects and Night Mode are also integrated to give you a better photography experience. It is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30fps and 1080p at 30fps yet not in 60fps.
For the front camera, the company has fitted an 8MP sensor into the Water-drop notch. This sensor should get the job done of snapping selfies. It can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.
Built For Speed And Refined For Play
The company claims that its integration of Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset can make the phone handle heavy games smoothly. Adreno 610 GPU, Octa-core CPU, and 3GB, 4GB, or 6GB RAM help to make the device’s performance better. Unfortunately, the 4GB RAM option is the only option offered in Nepal. The company should have gone for a higher chipset but this might be sufficient because it’s an entry-level midrange phone.
On the software part, it comes with Android 10 and is part of the Android One program. So, this means the phone has regular security updates and will be ready for Android 11 to operate once it launches. This could be a huge selling point for this device because Android One is great to have in any device.
The software experience is full stock with no additional UI or Bloatware which is great to have. The device offers 64GB storage which can be further extended up to 512GB via a MicroSD card slot which will be sufficient enough to store files. Considering Nokia 5.3 price in Nepal all the hardware and software feels good to have.
4000mAh Battery and Connectivity
The device packs 4000mAh to provide sufficient juice for proper usage. This battery makes the device stay charged for 2 days as per company claims. AI-assisted Adaptive battery integration saves energy for the apps that users use most. This surely removes battery anxiety for users those who don’t charge their phone often. It supports 10W charging via USB Type-C Reversible Connector that charges the battery a bit faster.
Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, GPS/AGPS, NFC, USB Type-C Reversible connector, and USB 2.0 are all there for connectivity options. Also, all the common sensors found on a smartphone like 3.5mm headphone jack, 2 Microphones, FM radio receiver, Dedicated Google Assitant button, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, and Fingerprint sensor are there in support.
