Previously, we talked about Jio 5G Service and Jio Cheap 5G Phones. This time around, the scenario has been changed from just making plans to the execution of the 5G network in India. It seems the first phase of finding partners, and the second phase of making plans for 5G in India are all done. Now, Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries owned by Mukesh Ambani, is on its way to implement all those 5G plans with one of its most important partners Qualcomm, the largest Chip manufacturer in the telecom industry. Jio Collaboration with Qualcomm for the 5G test/trials in India is on the way.
Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani has announced the plan to bring 5G to India at Qualcomm’s 5G Summit. The two companies shook hands to develop open and interoperable interface-compliant architecture-based 5G solutions with a virtual RAN. This collaboration will pace up the plan in providing 5G services in India. But the country is still yet to auction spectrum for 5G, which is one of the roadblocks for sooner implementation.
The technology and equipment used in these 5G services are homegrown and home-built, which means its Chinese equipment is free. The growing of the technology themselves takes the risk of being banned to 0% in India because they are to boycott Chinese Telecom Gears/Equipment.
Mukesh Ambani has also planned on selling the technology later to other carriers once rolls successfully in his home country. He believes this could be additional income sources for the company.

Regarding the collaboration, Mathew Oommen, President, Reliance Jio Infocomm, expressed, “We are excited about working with Qualcomm Technologies in developing new generation cloud native 5G RAN technology that is truly open and software defined. The development of secure RAN solutions with Qualcomm Technologies combined with Jio Platforms and scale provides the ideal combination for local manufacturing and for accelerating the realization of Atmanirbhar Bharat for an inclusive 5G nation.”
Jio to Grow More
Currently, Jio has over 40 Crore 35.54 Lakh users in their arsenal. All these users will be able to enjoy 5G services once released. Jio is bringing cheap 4G and 5G phones, so let’s add more users to our math. A multi-million deal with Facebook for e-commerce will help in the increase of more subscribers. More users will undoubtedly subscribe to Jio after 5G Network implementation; this means Jio will nearly take overall India. Find the differences between 4G and 5G to find which one is better.
The 5G service is already on its path to success. If it becomes a success, it will lay a new and robust foundation for India’s new digital economy. Only a few countries have 5G services, such as the U.S, South Korea, Australia, Switzerland, and Germany. India’s addition to this list will be a massive thing for them.
Meanwhile, the 5G supporting handsets and devices are also on the rise. Due to the rapid expansion of the 5G network worldwide, Apple integrates 5G in its latest iPhone 12 series Smartphones.
Mukesh Ambani stated that Jio is ready with a world-class 5G solution. Field deployment can even happen as soon as next year, and 5G products will be available for trails as soon as the spectrum is available. But there are reports from Zee Business that these trail plans may be delayed. The delay is because of security issues and clearance issues that are uneasy to solve as planned by the company.
