ICT Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of Information Technology for Nepal. As the ICT Awards, 2020 is already underway, the organizers announced their best five in four genres through a virtual program on October 20 because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Why ICT Award?
The ICT Award event is an annual ICT industry award with the motive to build interaction between the community and IT sectors to build upon strong e-society. This also provides both professionals as well as students with tangible-examples of the best work in the field of IT sectors in Nepal.
Not just this, but the annual event acts as a catalyst for growth for the Information Communication Technology sector. They also hope to help in developing new as well as advanced ideas from the tech entrepreneurs while giving them a sense of recognition and appreciation for their works.

Top Five For ICT Awards 2020
Fourteen Jury members selected the top five in the Startup ICT Award, Product ICT Award, Innovation Driven Crisis Response ICT Award, as well as Rising Student ICT Award 2020. This was all done in the third round of the selection process and more than Two Hundred online applications were received in these four categories this year.
Hempal Shrestha, Chief Jury Coordinator stated “The nomination for the ICT Awards 2020 was very enthusiastic and the competition was very high.”
BizHub I.T Services, CryptoGen Nepal, Genius Systems, Jeeve Health Pvt. Ltd., as well as Nep Meds Pvt. Ltd. are selected for Startup ICT Award 2020.
CPFDS, Fuse Classroom, Genuis IPTV, Jeeve, and Nyano Nani are selected for the Product ICT Award. Similarly, Covid-19 Pneumonia Detection Using Deep Learning and Neural Network, GoCorona- Nurse Robot, Paaila Emergency Resuscitator, Sister Robot, and Thermographic Camera are selected for the Innovation-Driven Crisis Response ICT Award 2020.
Also, let’s not forget to mention, 3D Printing with Recycled Plastic, Baala: From Waste To Wealth, Sanchai Chhau, Smart Blind Man Stick, and Smart Ghar are selected as top five projects under the Rising Student ICT Award 2020.
These were all shortlisted in the first round from four different categories. The best Twelve were selected afterward by Fourteen Jury members. All these Twelve participated in a Virtual presentation and speed dating which is a new use in Nepal.
Sushil Pokharel, Jury Coordinator said, “This year, there are good competitors in all disciplines, and the selection process is also scientific and technology-friendly.” He followed up by saying “Competitors who were not in the top five were equally successful and demanding.”

Next Step In Their Journey
In the next initial phase, all those who made it to the top five in four different categories will have to go through public voting. The public voting will starts on 28 October 2020 and end on 28 November 2020. Rajan Lamsal, Chairmain said, “This year voting can be done through SMS, Email, and eSewa.”
More than 350 online applications were received for the fifth edition of the ICT Awards 2020 for Eleven Categories as stated by the organizers. Only the best Seven will be selected and then the selection of the best three will be done as per the Fourteen Member Jury committee. The Grand Finale will be held in December 2020.
The ICT Award 2020 is even hailed by our Respected P.M K.P Oli and has the support of NTA, NAST, NITC, NTC, Genius Solutions, Phone Pay, eSewa, Dish home, Eminence Wage, Technorio, Sunvi Technologies, and Idea Jar.

The concept of ICT Awards has been very successful over the past years. Achieving this award has already been a milestone for all the Entrepreneurs as well as Companies in Nepal related to the field of Information Communication Technology.
