Mi Fan Meetup Nepal is a yearly event conducted for all the Xiaomi Fans in Nepal. Last year it couldn’t happen due to covid-19 situations. But this year it happened with the presence of former Xiaomi Nepal GM Mr. Saurabh Kothari, the new GM Mr. Amit Panda, MI Forum Nepal moderator/MI fan Club President Mr. Rajib Khanal, other officials, and Mi Fans. For the meetup, Mr. Khanal shared a form to be filled out on the Facebook group. From which only selected applications were invited for the event.
About Mi Fan Meetup Nepal
Mi Fan Meetup Nepal got conducted after two years. The last event happened during the pre-Covid time at Labim Mall. This yearly event focuses mainly on the passionate Mi Fans and interaction with them. As Xiaomi values its fans as a part of their family, this kind of meetup forms and strengthens bonds between the company and fans. Plus, it is also about thanking fans for the support, hearing their feedback, and discussing ways for betterment.
The venue for the event was Lucky Tower in Tripureshor Nepal. We were informed a day earlier by Mr.Bimal Man Shrestha, a Senior Training and Content Specialist at Xiaomi Nepal. As scheduled, the event kicked off at 4:30 pm NST with a warm welcome from former Xiaomi Nepal GM, Mr. Sourabh Kothari, and Mi Forum Moderator, Mr.Rajib Khanal. And the event lasted for one hour as planned.

What Was in The Mi Fan Meetup Nepal 2022?
As the clock started ticking, more fans joined the event. It began with introducing and interacting with the fans. Mr.Sourabh Kothari expressed his immense gratitude and happiness for being a part of Xiaomi Nepal for more than three years. Also fluent in Nepali, he further stated about his time and tenure in Nepal to be fruitful. After that, he welcomed the new country GM, Mr.Aman Panda.
The new Xiaomi Nepal GM also expressed his happiness and enthusiasm for Xiaomi. Being a part of the company for 5 years, he was also a part of the Xiaomi office in Bhubaneswar, India. Very experienced personnel, he also stated the importance of fans for the success and growth of Xiaomi over the years. Furthermore, Mr.Panda is also looking forward to the continuous support and love of the fans. He also talked about the importance of fans interaction on Whatsapp & Telegram.

In the meantime, Mr.Rajib Khanal presented his views and feedback for strengthening Xiaomi Nepal. The main talk was about how Xiaomi products were only available through grey markets in the initial time. Also even after the official entry of Xiaomi in Nepal, fans were not quite happy with the pricing. So, Mr.Khanal summarized the hurdles, problems, growth of Xiaomi in Nepal. Also an admin of Mi Fan Club Nepal, Mr. Khanal is a passionate Xiaomi Fan. The major feedback was to use the social media platforms as software troubleshooting and problem-solving forum. And the Xiaomi Nepal officials well took his advice.

Also speaking at the event, Mr.Sanjay Agrawal the director of Teletalk Pvt Ltd condemned how the grey market is hampering the mobile business in Nepal. As Xiaomi is a very popular brand, many grey Xiaomi products are easily available. Mr.Agrawal also stated about the hardships faced due to the Covid situations. “Even though it was hard to sustain the mobile business in the Covid period, it also became a blessing in disguise due to the rise in the use of online shopping and digital payments”, said Mr.Agrawal. Further, he also hinted about the full implementation of the MDMS system to counteract the grey market in the country.
Plus, Mr.Jeevan Tamang, digital marketing and communications manager of Xiaomi Nepal also thanked fans for their love and support. Also Mr.Shiva Raj Poudel, Xiaomi Nepal Digital Ecosystem Product Head revealed a plan to add products in the showroom for free trials and hands-on. The products range in the showroom will showcase products that won’t be available to purchase. So, Xiaomi Nepal will place such products for trials which won’t be even launched in Nepal. In short, there will be ‘Experience’ Xiaomi showrooms soon.
Cake Cutting & Gifts For the Fans
Mi Fan Meetup Nepal 2022 was not just for interaction and taking feedback. The event also stands for celebration and appreciation for the fans. Hence, there was a wonderful cake for the attendees with an orange and white accent-themed cake with “Mi Fan Meetup Nepal” carved on the cake. The former and new GM jointly cut the cake and shared it with all of the participants.
After that, the officials handed everyone a Mi T-shirt & face mask as a gift for the attendees. Then, the event concluded with warm wishes from the fans. The program was a kind of farewell for the former GM & a welcome for the new GM among the Mi fans.
So, that was all about Mi Fan Meetup Nepal 2022. These types of meetups are very necessary for a brand to know, meet and interact with the Fans directly. Xiaomi being a fan enthusiastic company has always been conducting such events in various countries. It is indeed fruitful for both company and the fans. I Hope, other brands shall also learn from Xiaomi to organize such events.
