State-backed operator Nepal Telecom (Ntc) organized interaction programs in Janakpur and Simara of Madhesh Province which involved discussion of the company’s services and its direction ahead. The telco’s MD Sunil Paudel, Communication Minister Rekha Sharma, and Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) Chairman Purushottam Khanal, among various other dignitaries, spoke on the occasions.
The program was completed in Janakpurdham and Simara on Friday, Shrawan 05, and Saturday, 06 respectively.
At the event, several associations members, MPs and people representatives from the province, and local bodies discussed the company’s services in Madhesh Province.
Rekha Sharma, the Minister of Communication, Information, and Technology (MoCIT) was one of the attendees. She asked for cooperation with public representatives to provide quality services in the province. The minister offered instructions to make necessary plans and minimize the digital divide. She also shared the plan to make at least two districts in each province fully equipped with telecom services. Sharma said the initiative will gradually expand to cover the entire district with services later.
Ntc 5G to roll out after testing
Sharma added that Ntc’s 5G trial network will roll out to public after its successful testing completes. Currently, the fifth-generation network is under internal testing at Ntc offices in Gandaki, Bagmati, and Madhesh Provinces. The minister added that the 5G will contribute to the growth of education, health, tourism, and other industries while also helping increase government revenue.
Likewise, Sunita Yadav, the Minister of Tourism in Madhesh Province, also expressed her opinion regarding Nepal Telecom’s services. She said that people carry the perception that the government has to be the one providing services in all areas. So, she opined that the government must prioritize providing services quickly and efficiently.
The direction of the company going forward!
Baburam Bhandari, the joint secretary at MoCIT and acting chairman of Ntc’s board of directors extended his gratitude for the suggestions and instructions from the speakers. He acknowledged important suggestions on the direction of Nepal Telecom and how to step into it.
NTA Chair Purushottam Khanal also spoke on the occasion. The regulatory body’s supremo shared that everyone has the right to enjoy telecommunication services. He stressed the role of the authority in coordination. Khanal believes that the people’s representatives have the role of coordination in the construction of base stations and other infrastructures in highways and places inside the Madhesh Province.
Ntc will effectively execute strategies to develop maintenance work in Madhesh Province- Ntc MD Paudel
On the occasion, Nepal Telecom Managing Director Sunil Paudel said that the company will effectively implement necessary plans and programs to develop maintenance work as a special service in FY 2080/81 BS. He said that the steps will be the key to providing reliable and quality service to the customers in the Terai province. The MD shared that Ntc is providing GSM service from over 550 locations and fiber internet services from 30 locations (OLT) respectively inside the Madhesh Province. Madhesh Pradesh has a huge demographic density and he requested to increase the customer base in the corresponding ratio.
Amul Pradhan, Director of Nepal Telecom, Regional Directorate of Madhesh Province, talked about the company’s services and the upcoming plans for the region. He said that the telco prioritized solving all customer complaints at the state level in the future. Additionally, he expressed his commitment to improving the customer service center in the future and providing more quality service.
Arjun Ghimire, Director of NTA, expressed that its Ntc’s responsibility to provide quality services for its consumers. And he said that for this, the authority will always support the operator.

The current services of Nepal Telecom in highlight
On the same occasion, other high-ranking figures also touched upon Ntc’s services. Deputy Manager Nawal Chaudhary and Senior Engineer Banti Shrestha talked about the current services of Nepal Telecom. Another Deputy Manager Samir Bahadur Shrestha discussed about Ntc’s roaming services being available abroad. Deputy Manager Niranjan Ghimire discussed the current state of Ntc services in Madhesh Province.
Likewise, People’s representative expressed their opinion on Ntc services and how to make them effective. Communication Minister Sharma, Ntc MD Paudel and Chief Commercial Officer Sangita Pahadi, Chief Operating Officer Jhabindra lal Upadhyaya Director of Wireless Service Directorate Minu Pradhan, and others clarified queries raised by the people’s representatives.
