NTA makes changes to MIS report, will now release “indicator” and “insight”

Telecom regulator Nepal Telecommunications Authority NTA has made some changes to its monthly MIS (Management Information System) report. The telecom regulator informed of the changes in its latest Baisakh report which is a telecommunication indicator as per the new format.

From now on, the authority will publish two different reports- one every month and one in three months. The monthly report will be called “Telecommunications Indicator” which will provide data on service providers, among other stats in summary. Similarly, the authority will publish “Telecommunications Insight” reports every three months. it will provide insight in detail into the telecom industry in the country.

“NTA is in the process of modifying the format of MIS published on a monthly basis”, NTA said in its latest indicators report. “Now onwards NTA will publish a glimpse of data every month with the title “Telecommunications Indicators” whereas detailed data on the sector will be published every three months interval with the title “Telecommunications Insight,” the authority added.

The monthly indicators provide details on voice telephony, and internet service from service providers (telecom operators and ISPs. Likewise, it will also provide details on the penetration of broadband service, market share of service providers, etc.

NTA changes MIS report

To make a comparison, The Chaitra report included besides, telecom stats, NTA’s activities pertinent to Type Approval Certificate, License issuance/cancellation, etc. These are now missing in the Baisakh report. It’s likely that such details will be included in the Telecommunication Insights report. Such reports will include customer base, data usage, etc. Additionally, such reports will have details relating to average revenue per user (ARPU), telecom infrastructure, rural telecommunications development fund, etc.

The monthly report is a summary of the basic key indicators from the telecommunication industry. The “Insight” report will be a thorough look into the industry will all the details. The authority has also called for feedback and suggestions on its new MIS report format.
