Nepal Telecom (NTC) has requested mobile phone users to use their SIM cards registered in their name for official documents and public services. The company issued a notice stressing the need to use their own Ntc SIM for various government services such as the National ID card, Nagarik App, etc.
The company made the request for security reasons. In recent months, instances of scams and hacking have increased. Most of the time, they involve the unconsented access to the mobile number. Have you heard of SIM Swapping?
Using SIM cards used in another name could complicate the situation. For e.g., if you feel that someone is trying to access your mobile number, you may need to call your telco (NTC in this context) for a solution. If the SIM card is not in your number, the process takes time.
