Nepal’s prominent digital wallet app Khalti has reached a milestone of 5 million (50 lakh) downloads on Play Store. The company reached the historic figure eight years after coming into operation.
The stat stirs Khalti into the list of some select apps with such huge download figures. The company shared the news via its social media handle on Friday, January 17, 2025. In its post, the company extended its gratitude to everyone who has been with the app on this glorious journey.
The elite digital wallet said, “Khalti has been downloaded over 5 million times on the Google Play Store. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us on this journey of #DigitalNepal through simple and easy payments.”
Although launched in 2017 AD, the need for contactless payment after COVID-19 fueled its adoption. Now, it stands as one of the top digital wallets in Nepal. The 5 million downloads for Khalti on Google’s Play Store is a rightful testament to its popularity in the country. The milestone also makes Khalti one of the popular apps in Nepal.

Khalti surpasses 5 million downloads on Google’s Play Store
