Nepal Telecom (NTC) is in the process of installing a new billing system. The company has issued an international bid from interested firms to apply for the installation of “convergent real-time billing (CRTB) system and customer support (CS) system.
The new billing system will reportedly cost the company a whopping Rs 5 billion. The government-backed company expects the new convergent billing system to make its services more straightforward and customer-friendly. Both CRTB and CS will be based on virtualized platform. Therefore, the new billing system marks another solid effort from the company in its billing software.
Nepal Telecom had already made an effort for the convergent real-time billing system in late 2080. However, the move couldn’t go ahead due to a writ filed on Jestha 20, 2081. It was argued that the bid was not technology-friendly, expensive, and would cause a huge financial burden on the company.
But the Supreme Court has given its full-texts verdict on the matter on Bhadra 25, 2081 clearing the way for the company to start the process. But it has canceled the earlier procurement process and instead announced a new tender.
