The Huawei MNC Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 (DNC 23) program has successfully completed with highly encouraging participation. Organized by ICT Foundation Nepal (IFN), the 2-day event explored the capabilities of Nepal for digital transformation under the slogan Fostering Digitally Sakshyam Nepal. In two days, 15 sessions were held on 6 different themes where multiple subject matter experts discussed various tech innovations and Nepal’s digital capacities.
On Friday, 23 June, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” attended the popular tech fair as the chief guest. On the same day, Communication and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma was also present as a special guest.
Likewise, for the closing event, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat was present as a special guest.
Several key figures from the government, industry, and representatives from private and public sectors attended the event. Parliamentarians, subject experts, and senior personalities from the ICT field also graced the event.
Razan Lamsal, President of ICT Foundation Nepal and Chairman of the program, shared that the 2-day conclave discussed various dimensions of the digital competencies of Nepal and he believes that will also help the government in policy-making.
This year’s Huawei Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 was organized as an effort to measure digital competence for the digital transformation of Nepal.
PM Dahal who addressed the opening session of the conclave shared his take on the need for infrastructure for the digital goals. He said that it is necessary to emphasize infrastructure and security to enhance digital capabilities.
Communication minister Sharma joined for a Fireside Power Samvad
Similarly, Communication Minister Rekha Sharma also sat for a Fireside Power Samvad in the inaugural session. While speaking, the minister said that the idea of technology has deviated. She said that now ICT is not just for entertainment but also for the production and digital economy. Sharma attended the prestigious event as a special guest.
Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat addressed the closing session. He expressed his hope that the findings from the conclave will be helpful for the government in policy-making.
“Information technology can make a great contribution to Nepal’s economy,” he said, “The government is leading to develop the ICT sector. We are ready to cooperate with everyone for this.”
PM’s IT expert Prakash Rayamajhi said that there were various discussions on digital competence in the 2-day program. He demanded that there be cooperation between the state and the private sector for digital competence.
Jim Wang, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Nepal, expressed commitment that Huawei will contribute to Nepal for achieving the goals of digital Nepal and sustainable development.
Concluding the same program, former Minister of Science and Technology Ganesh Shah stressed digital capability for the Digital Nepal goal.
Dileep Agrawal, President of WorldLink, Chairman of Advisory Committee of Seoul Digital Foundation of South Korea; Dr. Chang Hak Choi, Lee Yun Seng; Senior Industry Solutions Expert at Huawei Asia Pacific Region, Secretary of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology; Krishna Bahadur Raut, Founder of India’s The Digital Fifth; Sameer Singh Jaini, Sameer Maskey; Founder of Fuse Machines, Professor Hill H. Kobayashi of Tokyo University, Japan gave the keynote presentation for the event.

Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 discussed a wide range of topics
The two days in the program had wide-ranging discussions on digital infrastructure, digital introduction, e-governance, digital innovation and entrepreneurship, digital capability, digital economy, fintech, data governance, digital security, digital leadership, and digital capability.
The first day had a panel discussion on supporting infrastructure for digital capabilities, digital identity as a basic anchor, and municipal and state efforts and practices in digital governance.
Similarly, the panel discussion followed the second day on digital innovation and entrepreneurial capacity, basic tech stack and digital capacity building, digital economy, and financial technology capacity. Moreover, data governance and digital security for digital capacity, and digitally enabled Nepal were among other topics.
Besides, subject experts also presented their papers before the panel discussion started. More than 70 resource persons participated in the 2-day conclave.
The conclave emphasized Nepal’s capability for digital transformation and the necessary policy to achieve those goals.

Digital Pradesh Samvad Preceded the Conclave
This year’s Huawei Digital Nepal Conclave with ICT Foundation Nepal is the second edition. As a pre-event of the conclave, the ‘Digital Pradesh Samvad’ program was launched in all seven provinces.
In the conclave, the second edition of the book ‘Digital Pradesh Paridrishya’ was released. It has vital information on the digital situation and capabilities of all seven provinces.
Along with the conclave, Huawei, the top sponsor, also organized the Mobile Nepal Congress (MNC) as a mini–Mobile World Congress in a separate hall. The participants in MNC were able to get updates about new technologies such as 5G, AI, and Green Data Centers.

The Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 held in collaboration with Huawei, Powered by Yarsa, and Connected By Nepal Telecom had many great partners.
