Nepal Telecom has approved Huawei bid to build its Data center in Bhairahawa and Kathmandu and has published its Letter of Intent (LOI) for the same. The Chinese tech giant will now be responsible for the physical infrastructure of the data center for the state-backed telecom operator.
“The company will now sign a contract with Huawei. “Nepal Telecom has published the name of the company that will construct the physical infrastructure of the proposed data center. We will convene the company (Huawei) to start the formal work,” NT spokesman Hari Dhakal said.
Nepal Telecom will establish a primary data center in Kathmandu and a disaster recovery (DR) center in Bhairahawa. For the unaware, the disaster recovery center helps to restore operations when the primary center ceases to function or begins malfunctioning. It works as a backup data center just in case a situation demands.
Dhakal shared that the data center project will cost Rs 48 crore, 46 lakh, 38 thousand, and 729.
The company was at groundwork for the data center for some months seeking to enhance its service and performance. The data centers will be highly advanced and further modernize the company in terms of handling the data. The company sees the data center as part of its modernization and efficient service delivery and also a vital source of income generator.

Nepal Telecom says that its Huawei-made data center will be located in Kathmandu and Bhairahawa
After the contract, Huawei will start to build the data center for Nepal Telecom in Kathmandu and Bhairahwa.
The spokesman Dhakal shared that its data center will be equipped with modern facilities like power supply, AC, inverter, CCTV surveillance, etc. As for other infrastructure, Ntc will call for tenders for the connection switches, hard drives, routers, firewalls for the equipment, etc.
Interestingly, he shared that the data center could also be a source of income generation for the company. Ntc just like Ncell has seen its revenues decline in the past successive years. As a result, it’s implementing diverse areas to replenish its finances.
The data center will help Ntc cater to its customer services as per their need. It will provide the company with enough flexibility to maintain operations in a changing environment. Check out the latest Nepal Telecom fiber internet packages
Data centers are a key component for tech companies including telecom operators. Companys equip their crucial network element along with huge data storage in data centers. Generally, they are assumed safe too. However, as cyberattacks are a reality, modern and efficient data centers are needed to deflect any such attempts. NT is working on just that. A supremely powerful and secure data center helps the state-backed company operate and maintain its services unaffected.
