The 15th edition of the Durbarmarg Street Festival jointly organized by Ncell and FNCCI on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2079 has concluded. For long such crowd-pulling programs had not taken place. But this festival, the organizers believe, has successfully imparted the message that Nepal is rising.
Covid-19 had confined such events to a few, and people mostly lived indoors. The fifteenth Durbar Marg festival though has reinvigorated the people to step out and enjoy. After artists started performing, the event filled up with thrilling entertainment.
The festival has given great energy to the general public who have been forced to stay at home for a long time due to the Covid-19 epidemic and its effects. The atmosphere was very entertaining when the artists started performing at the festival.

Durbar Marg Festival 2079 to boost local economy
Shekhar Golchha, the chief of Nepal Chambers of Commerce had inaugurated the 3 days long festival at a special ceremony. He said that 90% of Nepalese have received their vaccine against COVID-19. The pandemic effect has also thawed and the festival will help revive the downtrodden economy.
The festival had the driving slogan of ‘Cooperation: Local production and Promotion of Domestic Tourism’. Likewise, the occasion is expected to promote internal tourism. The organizers also believe Nepali cuisine, and culture has come before a wider audience through the festival.
The federation and its member The Restaurant and Bar Association (REWAN) and Durbarmarg Development Board in cooperation with Ncell brought this event this year.
Ncell’s CEO spoke of the festival’s economic purposes. He shared that at a time when COVID-19 has stalled the economy, the festival encourages tourism and SMEs.

Over 1 lakh visitors
FNCCI’s outgoing president Bhavani Rana said that such programs would energize all the small and large enterprises. Speaking on the occasion, REWAN Chairman Araniko Rajbhandari said that the festival will help revive domestic and foreign tourism.
The festival had entertaining performances, and a cuisine exhibition till 8:15 PM. And over 1 lakh audiences had attended the three days running festivals.
Popular singers, artists, musical bands, Nepali dishes, and local productions were the source of attraction throughout the time. Singer Deepak Bajracharya and Rhythm Band, Cob Web, Samriddhi Rai with Band, Suwani Moktan, classical musical band Sursudha and etc. had entertained the audience with their famous tracks.

In addition, Everest Crew, Mahesh Kafle, and others had also performed their gig. Motivational speakers, Blind Rock’s Sristi Kc, comedian Bharatmani Poudel and Suman Koirala also entertained the visitors.
Federation’s Vice-chairman Dinesh Shrestha, treasurer Sakuntalal Hirachan, and trade fair chairman Narendra Khadka were present at the event. Among other honorary presence were representatives from REWAN, Durbar Marge Development Board President Sajiv Tuladhar. Other high-ranking officials from Ncell, Royal Stag, Gorkha Brewery, and other companies had also graced the event.

Besides, banking partner NIC Asia Bank, insurance partner National Life Insurance, beverage partner Dabur Nepal, Nepal Tourism Board, Kathmandu Metropolitan, Manakamana Cable Car, KFC, Pizza Hut, FonePay, Nepal Dairy etc. also received their certificates.
Specially abled entrepreneurs and their products were on display at the event. Women entrepreneurs also exhibited their various handcrafts for the visitors. Altogether there were 60 stalls at the festival.
Small and Medium Enterprises and the tourism sector are the most affected areas by the Covid pandemic. This Durbar Marg festival is expected to revitalize industry, businesses, and tourism back to normal soon as possible.
