The Chinese smartphone brand launched its first smartphone of 2020, the Realme 5i has been launched in Nepal on Thursday. Earlier this month, the phone was launched in India. Realme launched Realme 5 a few months earlier in Nepal which can also be a good phone to buy under Rs. 30000.
Realme 5i Price in Nepal
Realme 5i was launched in India for a base price of ₹8,999 and comes with 4GB RAM And 64GB internal storage. The same Realme 5i has been launched in Nepal. Realme Nepal launched the Realme 5i in Nepal at Rs. 20,999. The price of Realme 5i in Nepal seems to be a lot more expensive as compared to the Indian market. The phone is available in two lively colors, Aqua Blue and Forest Green and will go on sale from 26 January 2020, to the retail stores all across Nepal.
Realme 5i Overview
The quad rear camera and a 5,000mAh battery are the major highlights of the Realme 5i. The smartphone also arrives with a waterdrop-style display notch and highlights a fingerprint sensor at the back. The phone is also a splash resistance and has almost similar specifications to that of Remi Note 8 and its predecessor Realme 5. The Chinese company intends to take on the counterparts of the Redmi Note 8 and Samsung Galaxy M20 with the Realme 5i.
Display and Design
Realme 5i comes with a huge display and a tiny waterdrop notch at the top. The phone has a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. While it comes to the quality of the display, the 720p display is quite depressing in 2020 and a 1080p display would have been better.
The phone comes with Gorilla Glass 3+ on the front and a plastic body at the back. It is enclosed on the plastic frame and has a glossy finish. There is a Quad-camera placed vertically at the back along with a fingerprint sensor mounted in the middle. The phone almost weighs 200g and the huge 5000mAh battery makes it a bit heavier.
Camera
In the optics department, the Realme 5i carries a 12-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture; a second 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.25 aperture; a third 2-megapixel camera and a fourth 2-megapixel camera on the rear. The rear camera setup has autofocus and an LED flash. It packs an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/2.0 aperture.
Performance and Chipset
Realme 5i seems to be a powerful lower-mid range device. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, 1.8GHz octa-core processor that features 4 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 4 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It comes with 4GB of RAM.
On the software front, Realme 5i runs on Android 9 on top of ColorOS 6.0.1. The handset is backed by 64GB of inbuilt storage that can be extended via microSD card (up to 256GB) with a dedicated slot.
Battery and Connectivity
As mentioned earlier, the battery is the highlight of the phone. The handset has a powerful 5,000 mAh capacity battery with 30-day standby support as per the company claims. The battery does not have very fast charging but it has a support of 10W charging.
For connectivity, the phone includes 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and GPS. The device also arrives with a fingerprint sensor for security and convenience. It is a dual-SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts dual Nano-SIM cards.

Realme 5i in Nepal: The Verdict
The Realme 5i is a toned-down version of the previously launched Realme 5, but it is packed with powerful features. The phone comes with a massive 5,000 mAh battery capacity as well as a quad-camera set up at the back. For a budget smartphone, the feature on this phone looks pretty decent.
The major setback is the price. Xiaomi is offering the phone with almost a similar capability or even battery at the price far below this pricing. Redmi Note 8 is available for 18,999 and this is almost 2K expensive than that. Furthermore, Samsung is also offering Galaxy M20 at Rs. 18,990 and this is also a great competitor.
