Realme Buds Air 2 Overview
Realme Buds Air 2 is the latest TWS buds from the brand in Nepal. It is the successor to the Realme Buds Air that was launched a year back in Nepal. The earbuds arrive with more attractive specs/features and few upgrades and tweaks compared to the predecessor.
Design
Starting off with the design of the device, Realme Buds Air 2 is similar to that of Realme Buds Air Pro that was launched back in October 2020. The Realme Buds Air 2 features the in-ear style earbud with a stem design pretty much identical to the Apple Airpods and its predecessor. The earbuds have curvy aesthetics and bring a new two-tone color finish. The body of the Realme Buds Air 2 gets a matte finish and the stem is covered with an electroplating process. The earbuds weigh only 4.1 grams, which’s the same as 4 paper clips. You get three different sizes of earbud tips included (S, M, L), so one can find the best-fit right for them.
Realme Buds Air is backed by the latest Realme R2 chip that enhances the battery life by 80% and reduces latency by 35%. It also has IPX4 Dust and Water-resistance. The Realme Buds Air 2 comes in two different colors such as Closer Black and Closer White.
Audio & Active Noise Cancellation
Realme Buds Air 2 is equipped with the 10 mm Hi-Fi Bass Boost Driver. It comes with Diamond-like carbon coating that boasts hardness and corrosion resistance comparable to that of diamonds. The brand has also invited the Chainsmokers – Global EDM Artists and Top 100 DJs, to help create an all-new Bass Boost+ bass enhancement solution that maximizes the power of cutting edge bass boost driver and DLC diaphragm.
The Buds Air 2 supports up to 25dB of noise cancellation and can filter out most low-frequency noise, including the rumble of airplanes, the subway, and other transportation tools. Further, they offer two microphones on the stems along with the Environmental noise cancellation (ENC) for calls and even come with Transparency Mode. The Transparency mode allows you to talk freely without taking off your earphones. The earbuds come with support for low-latency mode for gaming and this mode will also lower the latency to up to 88ms.
Battery Life
As for the endurance of the Realme Buds Air 2, it offers up to 25 hours of battery life with ANC turned off and up to 22.5 hours of battery life with ANC turned on. Further the buds provide up to 5 hours of a total music playback for a single charge. The brand claims that a quick 10 minute of charging will offer a total of 120 minutes playback. It takes 1 hour to fully charge the earbuds only and 2 hours to completely charge the charging case & earbuds. It supports charging via the USB Type-C port but there’s no wireless charging support as that of Buds Air.
Connection & Controls
Talking about the connectivity, the Realme Buds Air 2 arrives with latest Bluetooth 5.2 . It has the standard range of 10 meters providing stable connection within it. Realme Buds Air 2 maintains a strong connection, even when there are dozens of devices around. The buds also use Dual-channel Transmission that transports the sound to both ears at the same time, which reduces lag and prevents broken connections. The latency has been reduced to 88 ms in Gaming Mode, a 35 % improvement compared to its previous model. It will automatically connect to your phone as soon as you open charging case with the help of Google Fast Pair.
As for controls, It also arrives with intelligent touch controls such as double-tap to play/pause, triple tap to skip track, Long Press 2s on one earbud to Reject Calls, Long Press on both earbuds 2s to Switch between ANC and Transparency Mode, etc. All these gestures can be customized to play/pause, previous track, next track, switch noise control modes, voice assistant, gaming mode options via Realme Link App. You also get smart wear detection, the same as the Realme Buds Air, so the buds will automatically turn on music when you put them in your ear and pause it once you take them off.
