The midrange devices of 2022 are a bit expensive and come with compromises on features. While phones launched in 2021 had better specs and value for money. Today, we are taking two midrange rivals from 2021, Redmi 10 Prime and Samsung Galaxy F22. Both phones did well for those wanting the best out of their budget. Also, do note, that Redmi 10 Prime 2022 is the very same device, and it’s just a reboot. In this article, let’s know which one is better among Redmi 10 Prime vs Samsung Galaxy F22.
Redmi 10 Prime vs Samsung Galaxy F22 Display & Design
Talking about the design, Redmi 10 Prime and Samsung Galaxy F22 share a similar plastic body with rounded corners. On the front side, Redmi has housed a hole-punch display while Samsung has gone with a traditional waterdrop notch design. Coming to the rear side, there is a rectangular camera module on Redmi 10 Prime whereas there is a square one on Samsung Galaxy F22. The Redmi 10 Prime is lighter with 192g weight as compared to Samsung F22’s 203g weight. You get a headphone jack and a dedicated MicroSD slot on both phones.
For display, Redmi has opted for a 6.5-inch Full HD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. Samsung has provided an AMOLED screen with HD+ resolution alongside a 90Hz refresh rate. As known, AMOLED panels are better than LCDs in terms of content quality, color contrast, and vividness. The Full HD+ resolution on Redmi 10 Prime will allow you to watch content in the same resolution on Youtube but Samsung F22 will be a bit better even with a lower resolution. Furthermore, there is Gorilla Glass 3 protection on both phones. Redmi 10 Prime has P2i coating whereas Samsung F22 lacks in this aspect.

Redmi 10 Prime vs Samsung Galaxy F22 Performance
Both phones are housing Mediatek chips here. The difference stands with Redmi having Helio G88 while Samsung is having Helio G80 chipset. Even though the number goes higher, Helio G88 performs similarly to Helio G80. Both chips are 12nm based and have the same Cortex A75 and Cortex A55 cores with the same 2.0Ghz and 1.8Ghz clock speed respectively. GPU is a bit better on G88 though but it is just marginal. So, the performance should be very similar on both devices.
Redmi 10 Prime boots on MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 OS. Likewise, Samsung F22 has OneUI 3.1 Core based on Android 11 OS. MIUI is a feature-rich skin with various customizations while OneUI is more polished and less heavy skin. The choice goes out to the likes of users but OneUI is a bit better in terms of stability. Still, MIUI has thoroughly improved with its new iterations and the device will likely get MIUI 13 too. And there is virtual RAM extension feature on MIUI which does take an edge with extra RAM on the Redmi 10 Prime.

Optics
There is a quad-camera setup on both of the devices. Redmi 10 Prime boasts a 50MP main lens with an f/1.8 aperture and PDAF. Meanwhile, Samsung F22 sports a 48MP main sensor with the same f/1.8 aperture. Also, the ultrawide lens is 8MP resolution on both phones but Samsung has a wider 123° FOV as compared to 120° FOV on Redmi’s. The rest of the lenses are the gimmicky, 2MP+2MP Macro & Depth units. So, picture quality taken on full resolution shall be a bit better on Redmi 10 Prime’s higher 50MP resolution. But the difference will be marginal. Samsung is known for good picture quality but in the budget segment, both devices should output similar results. On the front side though, Samsung is providing a 13MP camera while Redmi has an 8MP unit here.
Battery and Charging
Talking about the battery prowess, Redmi 10 Prime and Samsung F22 both feature a monstrous 6,000mAh battery. For fast charging, Redmi has provided an inbox 22.5W fast charger in the box. The phone supports up to 18W though. Meanwhile, Samsung has given a 15W fast charger in the box even though the phone can support up to 25W fast charging. So, battery life should be similar on both devices but charging should be faster on Redmi 10 Prime.

Redmi 10 Prime vs Samsung Galaxy F22 Verdict
Specs-wise both phones are going neck to neck in terms of performance and camera. There is not much of a difference to be clear. Samsung’s AMOLED panel does seem lucrative but settles for a 720p resolution. On the other hand, Redmi has a Full HD+ display but it’s an LCD panel. If you are using an AMOLED panel phone, you won’t likely settle for the LCD screen. Still, there is a higher 409 PPI on the 10 Prime than 274 PPI on the F22. For the optics department, both phones are offering a similar camera experience. Also, the battery capacity is the same. Although, Redmi has done a good job by providing a 22.5W fast charger as compared to Samsung’s 15W adapter. Pricing is also the same here.

If you are fond of AMOLED panels and can compromise on the 720p resolution, Samsung F22 is a better buy with a better front camera. If not, Redmi 10 Prime is also a worthy choice with a Full HD+ screen, slightly better 50MP camera, IR Blaster, and stereo speakers. Rest apart, both phones don’t have a huge difference.
