Redmi 8A Dual Overview
Redmi 8A Dual is an entry-level battery oriented smartphone. The phone comes with a great display, great battery, good build quality, and good enough chipset. It even supports fast charging of 18W through its Type C charging port.
Design and Display
Redmi 8A Dual brings the new Aura X Grip Design, improving on the much appreciated Aura Wave Grip Design, that was there with Redmi 8A. Aura X Grip Design brings a premium experience with a mesh pattern on the rear enabling better grip while keeping fingerprints at bay. With a promise of the highest quality, Redmi 8A Dual is built to last thanks to Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 and P2i’s nano-coating ensuring protection against accidental falls and spills respectively.
The all-new Redmi 8A Dual features a 6.22” HD+ IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch at the top for the selfie camera. The 720p resolution of the screen is fair enough and helps to extend the battery life for almost two days. The fairly large display on the phone has an aspect ratio of 19:9 and there is a tiny Redmi branding at the chin of the handset.
Performance and Chipset
Performance is taken care of by the Qualcomm® SnapdragonTM 439 octa-core chipset. It is available in a 2GB and 3GB RAM variant, with a 2+1 dual SIM slot. Similarly, the storage ranges from 32 GB to 64 GB. The dedicated microSD card support allows storage expansion up to 512GB. Sadly, there is no upgrade in the processor in this new Redmi 8A Dual from its predecessor Redmi 7A as well.
Snapdragon 439 is an octa-core processor with the clock speed up to 2.0 GHz. Adreno 505 GPU handles the graphics part. We can expect to run mid-tier games with ease but surely the high ends game will lag on this handset. As this phone is not meant for gamers or intensive users, this is suitable for normal users with tasks like internet browsing, camera, minimal games, and other light tasks.
Camera
We can see the major upgrade on-camera department over the Redmi 8A. Redmi 8A Dual takes a distant move and brings dual cameras to the Redmi A series for the first time. It features a 13MP primary Sony IMX363 sensor assisted by a 2MP depth sensor resulting in excellent portraits. Xiaomi’s AI Scene Detection and AI Portrait mode backs up the camera hardware. On the front, selfies, video calls, and AI face unlock are facilitated by the 8MP camera.
Both the front and the back camera is capable of taking 1080p videos at 30fps. There is a single LED flash at the back for better photos at night time.
OS, Battery, and Connectivity
It is based on Google’s Android 9.0 Pie. On the top of the Android 9.0 Pie, there is the support of MIUI 11. It is powered by a 5000mAh high-capacity two-day battery with support for 18W fast charging (10W fast charger inside the box). It also supports reverse charging through the Type-C port.
For the connectivity, there is Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth V 4.2, GPS, GLONASS. One of the impressive features is the Wireless FM Radio option that you will get with this device.

Redmi 8A (3GB+32GB) is a commendable smartphone for those who are searching for smartphones that are priced under Rs. 15K. This is one of the best phones under 15000 in Nepal but there is still a better Redmi 8 with better specs waiting for you. Powered by mediocre chipset and a good battery with 720p display is obviously the phone for the 2 days battery person. There are a lot of options available in the market at this price range such as Huawei Y6s, Galaxy A10s, and others but this phone seems to be the best value for money devices.
