Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S24 FE smartphone in Nepal which comes with a great combination of specifications and Galaxy AI features. The new lineup comes with a larger screen at a 6.7-inch screen, a 4700mAh battery, and an Exynos processor. Here, we took a closer look at its specifications, features, and expected price.

What is “FE” in Samsung Galaxy’s “S” Series phones?

The “FE” in Samsung phones stands for “Fan Edition“. Samsung releases the FE variant of its flagship S series phones by listening to what fans have wanted or would rather prefer in an “S” series Galaxy phone. Regarding its “FE” variants, Samsung says, “When you speak, we listen. For each generation of the flagship Galaxy S series, we take on your feedback and produce a device packed with all of your favorite features”. Design and Display

For its design, Samsung hasn’t opted for much change. The device has a triple camera setup aligned horizontally on the back and features a selfie camera on the front. The frames are made of aluminum. Likewise, the front glass is a Gorilla Glass Victus + while the GG5 is layered on the back. The phone is IP68-certified for dust and water protection.

The display sees a big change. The phone carries a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, and FHD+ resolution, but the peak brightness is limited to 1900 nits. The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus feature a 6.2-inch screen with 2600 nits of peak brightness and a 6.7-inch screen with 2600 nits of peak brightness, respectively. The Galaxy S24 Ul t ra comes with a 6.8-inch screen.

Performance

The Galaxy S24 FE features an Exynos 2400e, a 4nm chipset, unlike the entire S24 series which came with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It’s a Samsung-made deca-core processor that clocks up to 3.11 GHz. It’s paired with an Xclipse 940 GPU. Likewise, the phone has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB/256GB/512GB internal storage options. The phone ships with Android 14-based One UI 6.1 custom skin.

Camera

The camera section also offers somewhat similar specifications. It’s a triple camera setup with the main wide camera being a 50 MP shooter accompanied by an 8 MP telephoto lens with OIS and 3x optical zoom capacity and another being a 12 MP ultrawide unit. The base and the Plus variants feature a 10 MP telephoto lens. Anyway, the camera can record videos up to 8K at 24fps.

For the front camera, Samsung has included a 10 MP selfie shooter which can take videos at 4K at 30/60fps. Here too, the OEM went for slightly lower MPs. The other two variants- the base and the Plus came with a 12 MP selfie camera. But you shouldn’t see a remarkable difference in photo and video quality.

Battery and Connectivity

The battery has been bumped up in the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE. It features a 4700mAh battery pack. The phone also supports 25W wired fast charging, 15W wireless, and reverse wireless charging. For connectivity, the phone comes with support for WiFi 6E, 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, etc.

Our Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE features a large screen, a big battery, and a deca-core Exynos chipset. There are some low specs in camera and peak brightness but essentially, it’s a compact phone in specifications and price. In addition, it also comes with a haul of Galaxy AI features. If the original Galaxy S24 Series has left you wanting a different mix of specs, especially between the base and Plus model of Galaxy S24 phones, you may want to buy this phone instead.
