Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 & Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Overview
Design/Display
Looking at the design of the smartwatches, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 has a circular minimalist design while the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic features a unique design, a circular rotating bezel. Samsung has changed the naming, as the Galaxy Watch Active lineup is called Galaxy Watch and the watch with a rotating bezel is called Watch Classic. Both the models also feature a 5ATM rating, IP68 water, and dust resistance, and MIL-STD-810G rating.
As for the display, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is available in 40mm and 44mm variants, while the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic comes in 42mm and 46mm variants. On the 40/42 mm models, we get a 1.2 inches (30.4mm) Circular Super AMOLED display along with a screen resolution of 396 x 396 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ protection. On the other hand, 44mm and 46mm models pack a 1.4 inches (34.6mm) Circular Super AMOLED Full Color Always On Display along with the screen resolution of 450 x 450 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ protection. You get a corning gorilla glass DX protection for Classic watches.
Internals And Software
The Galaxy Watch 4 series comes powered by Samsung’s latest Exynos W920 processor. It is a dual-core chipset based on a 5 nm process that clocks up to 1.18GHz. The CPU performance has improved by 20 percent and RAM by 50 percent in comparison with its predecessor. Likewise, GPU performance has also improved by more than 10 times. It comes attached with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
As for the software of the Galaxy Watch 4 series, it runs on Wear OS powered by Samsung with One UI Watch 3 skin on top. It helps to provide a more consistent experience with the Galaxy ecosystem, including smartphones.
Health Features
The Galaxy watch 4 series also arrives with health tracking features. It features a Samsung BioActive Sensor that measures ECG (electrocardiogram), blood oxygen saturation, and blood pressure in real-time. You can also check abnormal heart rate and rhythm through ECG and send data straight to your phone. It also does sleep tracking, the sleep tracker detects and holistically analyzes sleep stages while resting.
Battery and Others
As for the endurance of the devices, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 comes equipped with a 247mAh battery, while Galaxy Watch 4 Classic boasts a bigger 361mAh battery. Both the wearables are compatible with Qi wireless charging and arrive with a wireless charging adapter. The smartwatches provide up to 40 hours of backup on a single charge. The brand claims they can last up to 10 hours with only just 30 minutes of charging.
Talking about the connectivity options, the Galaxy Watch 4 series includes dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC for Samsung Pay and Google Pay, built-in GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, and optional 4G LTE, etc.
